Description

The invention relates to the use of silver halide photographic emulsions for recording of electron beams.
It is known that silver halide photographic emulsions are caused by certain sensitizing dyes can be sensitized to different areas of the spectrum. So became found that by spectral sensitization using a fine grain silver halide emulsion certain sensitizer dyes not only the wavelength range against which these emulsions are sensitive, extended, but also the photosensitivity within the range of self-absorption of the silver halide can be noticeably improved (cf., for example, the known Japanese patent application 38248/1969). A large number of the aminostyryl bases also belong to the class belonging sensitizer dyes known for the optical sensitization of photographic Silver halide emulsions can be used and give them increased sensitivity give πΐμ within the absorption range of 450 to 820 (see, for example, the German U.S. Patents 754,723,976,968 and U.S. Patents 2,169,434 and 2,345,094). From the German Auslegeschrift 1 022 468 it is already known that the addition of certain sensitizers Sensitivity of photographic recording materials to X-rays and γ-rays can be improved; in the book by P. G 1 a fkides, "Photographic Chemistry", Vol. I, pp. 406 to 408 (1960), it is pointed out, however, that between spectral sensitization with a sensitizing dye and exposure to There is no direct dependency on electron beams.
In photosensitive recording materials used for high density recording particularly in the case of photosensitive recording materials used for recording electron beams however, silver halide photographic emulsions are required to be used which have the highest possible sensitivity to electron beams are used, in order to be able to produce high quality images with a good resolution.
L is an optionally substituted methiij group and η is 1 or 2 for recording electron beams.
This makes it possible for the first time to use electron beams to produce images with excellent Establish image quality.

A silver bromide emulsion with a number average grain size of 0.08 μ was prepared, by a blending process and a sulfur sensitization and gold sensitization was applied thereto. The emulsion sensitized in this way was then divided into two parts and the aminostyryl base according to the invention became one Part of the emulsion added and the other not. Both emulsions thus obtained were each on A film backing or film base made of cellulose triacetate is applied to specimens, respectively to manufacture.
These samples were subjected to stepwise irradiation using an electron beam irradiation apparatus under such conditions that the acceleration voltage was 20 kV and the current density or thickness of the beam within the range of 10 -10 to 10 -8 coulomb per square centimeter was. Then, the thus irradiated samples were subjected to development using D-76 developer at a temperature of 20 ° C for 4 minutes, and characteristic curves of the respective samples were obtained.
Assuming that the sensitivity of the emulsion without the aminostyryl base is 1 at the point where the optical density is fog + 0.5, the logarithm of the sensitivity of the emulsions to which each is an appropriate amount of the Aminostyrylbase had been added, ie Δ log e, indicated as a sensitizing factors of these Verbindunger respectively.
