KAISERLICHESIMPERIAL
PATENTAMT.PATENT OFFICE.
The present invention relates to a further embodiment of the cartridge case according to the patent
213677. The improvement is that in the base part made of brass
individual recesses or holes are in such a position and of such a design,
that when the shot is fired, the wall of the aluminum jacket is pressed into these openings by the pressure of the propellant gases and thereby
a peg-like or bead-like connection is made between the two parts
will.
Bekanntlich werden insbesondere an die^
jenigen Hülsen, welche für Maschinengewehrmunition, Selbstlader o. dgl. Verwendung finden,
It is well known that the ^
those cases which are used for machine gun ammunition, self-loaders or the like,
Particularly high demands are made, since the speed of movement of the parts during the automatic operation of the weapon
is a very high one and, accordingly, the fired case is pulled out jerkily.
In this respect, it has become necessary to establish the connection between the jacket (to the aluminum) when the sleeves are assembled.
and to make the bottom piece (made of solid metal) interlocking so tightly that the case also works with such weapons
able to withstand stresses occurring when taking off. The inventor has
now found that this goal can be achieved in the most perfect way by
that the assembly of the sleeve and the bottom piece is effected from the outset in such a way that
that the firm, final connection of these two parts through the action of the propellant gases,
so when the shot itself, depending on the high pressure that occurs
can be produced. The gas pressure, which by pressing the sleeve wall in
the cartridge chamber creates the resistance to being pulled out, can be used for this purpose
made to establish the connection and by virtue of the resulting working pressures it is absolutely safe with such high strength
to design, as this on the way of manufacture with the usual means and in
is not so easy to get to.

Löcher f, während in Fig. 2 die Verbindung durch Einwärtspressen des unterenIn the embodiment according to FIG. 1, the connection between the base piece and the sleeve is made by pressing the jacket into individual holes f provided in the side wall of the base piece, while in FIG. 2 the connection is made by pressing the lower one inward
Shell part is achieved in a circular groove g running all around on the inner wall of the base piece. The fact that the gas pressure itself rivets the parts intended to make the connection into one another, so to speak, achieves the best and most resilient combination of the casing with the base piece, so that when the cartridge case is pulled out of the barrel, even under the greatest stress, such as, for example occurs with machine guns, the base piece cannot be torn off the case base.
