Description
KAISERLICHES
PATENTAMT.
Die allgemeine Verwendung von Thermoelementen zum Messen hoher Temperaturen,
z. B. in Metallbädern und Metallsalzschmelzen, erleidet dadurch eine Einschränkung, daß es
sehr schwer ist, die schädlichen Wirkungen des flüssigen Metalles, der Schlacke und heißen
Gase von den Meßgeräten dauernd fernzuhalten.
Die bekannten Schutzmäntel zu diesem
ίο Zwecke sind nur von geringer Haltbarkeit
und besonders dann nicht verwendbar, wenn es sich darum handelt, die für Thermoelemente
vorzugsweise gebrauchten Platinlegierungen gegen die Einwirkung einer kohlenstoff-
oder kohlenoxydhaltigen Atmosphäre, gegen die sie besonders empfindlich sind, bei
hohen Temperaturen zu schützen. Ein Rohr aus Marqardtscher Masse, das als Schutzrohr
viel Verwendung findet, widersteht allerdings jenen Gasen; es ist aber sehr zerbrechlich
und nicht imstande, die plötzlichen starken Temperaturänderungen auszuhalten, wie
sie beim Gebrauch unvermeidlich sind.
Gegenstand der vorliegenden Erfindung ist ein Schutzrohr für Thermoelemente zum Messen
hoher Temperaturen, das aus geschmolzenem Korund hergestellt ist. Es widersteht nicht
nur dem Angriff von flüssigen Metallen und Metalldämpfen, sondern ist auch undurchlässig
für kohlenoxydhaltige und überhaupt kohlenstoffhaltige Gase, und dabei im normalen Gebrauch
fast unzerbrechlich und unempfindlich gegen plötzliche starke Temperaturänderungen.
Die Thermoelemente können in verschiedener-Weise in diesem Rohr oder Mantel untergebracht
sein.
So kann beispielsweise (Fig. 1) der eine
Schenkel des Thermoelementes unmittelbar in das Korundrohr α gezogen werden, während
der andere Schenkel zur Isolierung durch ein Rohr b aus Marquardtscher Masse geführt
ist. Es kann aber auch das isolierende Marquardtrohr, das bei dieser Anordnung durch
starke Temperaturänderungen springen würde, und mit ihm das Thermoelement noch weiter
dadurch geschützt werden, daß das Korundrohr a, wie Fig. 2 zeigt, zunächst ein Eisenrohr
b umschließt, in dem zwei Marquardtrohre c und d beide Drähte gegeneinander
isolieren. Das Korundrohr hält somit die Angriffe der kohlenstoffhaltigen Gase zunächst
von dem Eisenrohr fern, und dieses schützt die isolierenden Marquardtrohre gegen mechanische
Beschädigungen und plötzlichen Temperaturwechsel.

- Patent-Anspruch :Schutzeinrichtung für Thermoelemente zur Messung hoher Temperaturen in kohlenstoff-, insbesondere kohlenoxydhaltigen Gasen, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der den Gasen unmittelbar ausgesetzte Mantel aus Korund besteht.Hierzu 1 Blatt Zeichnungen.
