Description
The invention relates to an abrasion-resistant cobalt alloy which is resistant to oxidation at high temperatures.
μAn alloy with 18 to 24% chromium, 0.4 to 0.7% carbon, 7 to 15% nickel, 6 to 9% tungsten, 2 to 5% tantalum, 0.1 to 0.5% titanium and 0.1% to 1% zirconium, the remainder being cobalt, is described in US Pat. No. 3,432,294. This alloy can also contain up to 0.2% misch metal as a secondary component in addition to other accompanying elements contain. This alloy will have good properties at room temperature and at increased Temperatures also attributed good resistance to oxidation at high temperatures, provided that the content of the carbide formers titanium and zirconium is kept low. A combination between high oxidation resistance and high abrasion resistance is made in this known alloy apparently not achieved. μ
The object of the invention is a cobalt alloy with improved oxidation resistance and improved Abrasion resistance at elevated temperatures.
This problem is solved with an alloy which is characterized in that it consists of 25 to 32% J5 Chromium, 3 to 8% tungsten, 0.7 to 1.3% carbon, I to 10% nickel, 0.2 to 1.2% silicon and 0.02 to 0.12% Lanthanum, up to 10% tantalum, up to 5% iron, the remainder cobalt.
Zur Herstellung von Legierungen, die verschweißt werden sollen, gibt man >o daher vorzugsweise das Lanthan in praktisch elementa-Es'wurde noted that other rare earth metals may be present with lanthanum w together as they are present in mixed metal without effecting the improved oxidation resistance is adversely affected. However, these other rare earths all together should not exceed the lanthanum content, because otherwise veins and non-metallic inclusions will form in the alloy, which impair the weldability and lead to weld seams of poor strength. For the production of alloys that are to be welded, it is therefore preferable to give the lanthanum in practically elemental
The amount of lanthanum in all cases should be the Exceed total amount of other rare earth metals. Used to make alloys that are not are to be welded, you can use conventional methods, also in the form of mischmetal or lanthanum Add alloys containing lanthanum.
Table I shows the composition of comparative alloys. These alloys were melted down, cast into castings of around 90 to 110 kg, processed into sheet metal in the heat, Tempered 10 to 15 minutes at 1150 to 1230 ° C and then quenched.
Samples of alloys from Table I in the form of sheets with edge lengths of 19 × 19 mm and thicknesses from 1.5 to 3.2 mm were tested for their resistance to oxidation. The results are in Table II contain.
The tests for oxidation resistance were carried out as follows.
The surfaces of the samples were processed with abrasive grains of up to 0.125 mm. The surfaces and weights of the samples were determined.
The samples were treated at 1095 or 1150 ° C. with flowing air in an amount of 4.4 l / cm 2 of the furnace cross-section per hour four times for 25 hours each time. The samples were cooled to room temperature between each treatment. The samples were cooled in air. The samples were descaled in a salt bath. The descaled samples were carefully weighed and the weight loss calculated. The penetration depth, calculated over a year, was calculated using the following formula:
