Claims (4)
1. The two core pieces of the fault simulator for contactor circuits form the fault simulation contactor ( 1 ) and the fault simulation button combination ( 2 ). The basic function of the modules is identical to the commercially available modules. This means that it can be combined with the existing modules. The contactor and the buttons have the same function as you can find them in switchgear. They are built into an experimental module system from ELWE for laboratory use. This means that the existing frames can be used for the module system.
The newly developed fault simulation function center is located on the rear of the modules.
The housing of the fault simulation contactor and the fault simulation button combination consists of an experiment plate ( 3 ) and a cover box ( 4 ). Depending on the required appearance, the experiment plate has been machined with a CNC milling machine. Complete labeling of the front panel has been dispensed with. This general layout means that there is no restriction when using the error simulator.
A specially made plastic plate ( 5 ) is located inside the housing. This red plastic plate was heated and bent at a 90 ° angle. A large and a small area was bent in the fault simulation contactor. The large area ( 6 ) is used to fasten the wiring channels 20 × 40 ( 7 ) and on the small area ( 8 ) the top-hat rail ( 9 ) for the contactor is attached. With the error simulation button combination, only a large area is bent, since only the wiring channels need to be fastened here.
By installing the red plastic plate, the wiring ducts and the DIN rail are fastened without leading the fastening screws outwards. This measure creates additional insulation to protect against direct and indirect contact, since no live parts can escape through the cover box.
Furthermore, the plastic plate has the task of ensuring stability on the bottom surface of the cover. The safety sockets for the function center of the fault simulation are arranged on the floor surface. Inserting and pulling out the short-circuit bridges creates an extreme load on the back of the cover box. This load is greatly reduced by using the plastic plate, so that the cover box cannot be damaged.
The control center consists of the short-circuit jumpers and the safety built-in sockets. Different plug variants of the contacts and the coil can be simulated through the plug-in options of the short-circuit jumpers. This simple simulation of errors makes it possible to simulate practical module errors.
The safety built-in sockets of the function center are arranged in the form of a right-angled triangle ( 11 ) on the push-button contacts, on the auxiliary contacts on the contactor and on the contactor coil. The two cathets of the triangle are 19 mm long. This length is specified by the pin spacing of the short-circuit bridge. The short circuit jumper can thus be inserted horizontally and vertically.
The safety built-in sockets of the control center are arranged in the form of two right-angled triangles ( 12 ), which are shifted by 180 ° relative to one another, in the case of the power contacts of a contactor. It figuratively looks like a six on the cube. The three sockets next to each other are arranged horizontally. Again, the length of the cathets is 19 mm. The triangles are arranged in such a way that a connection from one triangle to the other via short-circuit bridges is also possible.
The technical structure of the fault simulation button combination is described as follows. The error simulation button combination consists of three buttons ( 13 ), which are inserted in one housing. Each button has an NC contact and a NO contact. All contacts are equipped with the error simulation function. The buttons were arranged according to technical and economic aspects. This resulted in a division that is quite common in practice.
The buttons are located on the front panel. The safety built-in sockets ( 14 ) are arranged to the left and right of the buttons. With these sockets, the buttons are connected to the other modules when the circuit is set up. The sockets were labeled according to the key figures of the switches. This also results in the function of the switch (normally closed or normally open). The wires in the wiring ducts ( 7 ) lead from the front panel to the safety mounting sockets for fault simulation ( 11 ) on the bottom of the cover box. The wiring was carried out according to the circuit diagram supplied in the appendix.
Since the buttons are only used in the control circuit, the wiring color of the single-core cables is red here. The color of the safety mounting sockets is also adapted to the control circuit and is also red.
The technical structure of the fault simulation contactor is described as follows. The fault simulation contactor consists of a power contactor ( 10 ) with an auxiliary switch module that is inserted in a housing. The complete contactor is equipped with three main contacts, three normally open auxiliary contacts and two normally open auxiliary contacts. The three main contacts as well as an NC auxiliary contact and two NO auxiliary contacts are provided with the fault simulation function.
The contactor is fastened to the DIN rail on the lower wall side of the plastic plate. The safety built-in sockets ( 12 ) for fault simulation of the power contacts are located below the contactor.
The cables are laid in wiring ducts ( 7 ) that are attached to the plastic plate. There are safety built-in sockets ( 15 ) on the front panel. With these sockets, the contactor is connected to the other modules when the circuit is being set up. The color of the safety built-in sockets on the front plate and the bottom of the plastic housing depends on the function in the circuit structure.
The sockets were labeled according to the contactor's key figures. This also results in the function of the switch (normally closed or normally open). The wiring was done according to the circuit diagram in the appendix.
