Abstract

Description

The invention relates to a raised bed frame, which is generally designed for use in a raised bed, and a kit-of-parts for such a raised bed frame.

To raise plants, raised bed frames are filled with filling material, which can consist of branches, compost and soil, for example. The filling material can be placed directly on the subsurface or, for example on terraces or balconies, held above the ground.

DE 89 102 73 U1 concerns a raised bed frame that is formed using steel supports. Each steel support has a cantilevered base and two U-profiles, the open side of which is aligned at right angles to each other to accommodate planks. Planks typically refer to rectangular pieces of wood with a thickness of at least 40 mm. In the longitudinal direction, adjacent supports are connected by angle iron, which serves as a support for round timber. Opposite center supports are formed with U-profiles that rest against each other on the back and are equipped with flat irons as stabilization and spacers. There are additional U-profiles on the outside of the supports to accommodate double-wall panels.

DE 20 214 394 U1 describes a raised bed frame construction in which U-profiles are provided for inserting board-like wall parts. Corner supports and intermediate supports are provided with welded fastening eyes to hold two U-profiles together in pairs using pins or other fastening elements. The corner supports have support plates arranged between the backs of the U-profiles, to which the raised bed border boards can be screwed. Cross struts are suspended between opposing intermediate supports. Diagonally guided cross struts connect adjacent corner or intermediate supports.

US 9,993,074 B1 shows a modular kit with similar support posts and panels. The support posts have four trapezoidal grooves into which the spring ends of the panels are inserted. Out of DE 10 2013 108 553 A A similar wall construction is known in which wall elements are connected to uniform posts via a tongue-and-groove system.

A disadvantage of known raised bed designs is that the raised beds are difficult to expand once they have been built and filled. Often a corner must be dismantled before the structure can be expanded, including removing the soil and plants within it. In some well-known raised bed designs, the external appearance is perceived as unattractive, for example because of numerous visible fasteners or because of gaps that can be irregular or trap dirt. Numerous well-known raised bed constructions also have complicated assembly, especially for variants with screens.

The present invention was based on the object of providing a raised bed frame and a kit of parts for a raised bed frame, which no longer suffer from the disadvantages of the prior art. In particular, the invention was based on the object of providing an easy-to-assemble and expandable raised bed frame and corresponding kit-of-parts, in particular with an outside that is easy to clean or less sensitive to dirt and poses the lowest possible risk of injury.

Accordingly, a kit-of-parts for a raised bed frame is provided that includes at least four profile rails that extend in a longitudinal direction of the profile. The profile rails each have at least two adjacent receptacles for board-like wall elements that run (expanding) in the longitudinal direction of the profile. The kit-of-parts can only have similar profile rails, for example L-shaped profile rails, whose adjacent receptacles are aligned transversely to one another, for example at a right angle or an obtuse angle. The kit-of-parts can have two or three groups of similar profile rails, for example a first group of L-shaped profile rails (L-profile rail), a second group of T-shaped profile rails (T-profile rail) and a third group of X-shaped profile rails (X profile rail). According to the present disclosure, the profile rails have through openings for receiving fixing elements for attaching a board-like wall element to a profile rail. Preferably, a respective through opening, in particular all through openings, can be formed as a bore or punched hole or the like. A through opening, in particular all through openings, can in particular be circular and/or a cross-sectional width, such as a diameter, in the range of 2 mm to 8 mm, in particular in the range of 4 mm to 7 mm, preferably in the range of 5 mm to 6 mm, for example approximately 5.5 mm. With the help of the kit-of-parts according to the invention, a raised bed frame can be assembled in a particularly simple manner. In particular, the kit-of-parts and the raised bed frame made from it do not require additional struts that connect adjacent or opposite profile rails. Raised bed frames formed with the kit of parts according to the invention can be easily expanded, even while a raised bed is filled and planted. In contrast to conventional raised bed frame constructions, filling material and plants can remain in the receiving space of the raised bed frame during the conversion because conversion work only has to be carried out on individual profile rails, while the board-like wall elements can remain in place.

In a preferred embodiment of a kit-of-parts, the profile rails each have an inside on which the through openings, in particular bores, are arranged, and they each have an outside that is free of the through openings. In particular, the respective outside of several, preferably all, profile rails forms a flat and/or smooth surface. In this way, a visually appealing appearance can be achieved without using redundant panels or the like, including the assembly steps required for this. The expert understands that the inside of the respective profile rail is directed towards a receiving space of the raised bed frame. Alternatively, for groups of three or four through openings, a corresponding group spacing can be predetermined as the pair spacing of the outermost through openings in the group. A predetermined distance (neighbouring distance) can preferably be provided between adjacent pairs of through-holes or groups of through-holes, which is preferably coordinated with the particular uniform board width and the pair distance. In particular, the neighboring distance cannot be greater than, preferably smaller than, the pair distance. For example, a predetermined neighboring distance in the range from 20 mm to 75 mm, preferably in the range from 30 mm to 60 mm, particularly preferably from 50 mm, can be provided for each board-like wall element. The edge distance between the uppermost through opening to the adjacent upper end of the profile rail and the edge distance between the lowest through opening to the adjacent lower end of the profile rail is preferably smaller than a board width, particularly preferably smaller than half a board width. The edge distance is in particular not more than 50 mm, preferably not more than 40 mm, for example 37.5 mm or 25 mm. The top margin distance can be equal to the bottom margin distance. Alternatively, the lower margin distance can be smaller or larger than the upper margin distance. The edge distances, pair distances and/or neighboring distances can be dimensioned to provide free spaces between adjacent board-like wall elements, in particular wooden boards, in order to maintain tolerance spaces for thermal deformation, swelling and/or minor unevenness in the subsurface. Preferably, it can be provided that adjacent profile rails and the board-like wall elements that can be used or inserted thereon, in particular wooden boards, additionally or alternatively provide free spaces as tolerance spaces in the depth of the receptacles.

According to another embodiment, all receptacles of all profile rails of the kit-of-parts are designed and set up for board-like wall elements of uniform width, length and/or height, in particular of uniform design. Wall elements of a uniform design have the same width, length and height dimensions and are preferably made of the same material. A receptacle of a profile rail expediently has a depth into which the longitudinal ends of the board-like wall elements, in particular wooden boards, can be inserted. Preferably, the depth of the mounts of the kit-on-part is tailored to the board-like wall elements, in particular the material and/or the thickness of the board-like wall elements, and/or the fixing elements to be used. Several or all recordings of a profile rail, in particular the kit-of-parts, can have the same depth. The depth of a receptacle can be, for example, in the range 5 mm to 35 mm, in particular in the range 10 mm to 30 mm, preferably in the range 15 mm to 25 mm, for example the depth of a receptacle can be 20 mm. Several or all recordings of a profile rail, in particular the kit-of-parts, can have the same depth. A receptacle of a profile rail expediently has a clear width for receiving the board-like wall elements, which extends transversely to the depth of the receptacle and transversely to the longitudinal direction of the profile rail. The holders of the profile rails of the kit-of-parts are preferably shaped to match the board thickness. The receptacles of the profile rail can have a clear width that is shaped to complement board-like wall elements and/or is dimensioned to accommodate the longitudinal ends of board-like wall elements. The clear width of the receptacles is preferably at least as large as a board thickness and/or not more than 50%, in particular not more than 20%, preferably not more than 10% larger than the board thickness. The clear width of the receptacles can be, for example, in the range 6 mm to 36 mm, in particular in the range 12 mm to 32 mm, preferably in the range 17 mm to 27 mm, for example the clear width can be 21 mm. Several or all recordings of a profile rail, in particular the kit-of-parts, can have the same clear width.

In a preferred embodiment, which can be combined with the others, the kit-of-parts comprises at least two profile rails, each of which has at least or exactly three adjacent receptacles running (expanding) in the longitudinal direction of the profile. According to a preferred development of profile rails with at least two or exactly three adjacent receptacles, a respective pair of receptacles of the same profile rail can be diametrically opposed to one another and/or have oppositely oriented receiving openings. A profile rail with exactly four adjacent receptacles can preferably have two diametrically opposed receptacles in pairs. In addition, at least one receptacle can have a receiving opening aligned transversely, in particular perpendicularly, to the pair of receptacles on the same profile rail.

In a preferred embodiment, which can be combined with the others, the kit of parts comprises at least two, preferably at least four, profile rails which have no more than two receptacles running in the longitudinal direction (L-profile rails). Preferably, the alignment of exactly two adjacent receptacles can be offset by 90° relative to the longitudinal direction of the profile.

According to a particularly preferred development of a kit on parts according to the invention, which includes profile rails with exactly two adjacent receptacles, these L-profile rails have an outer edge defined by the no more than two receptacles, in particular with a rounded radius. According to a preferred embodiment of a kit-of-parts, the profile rails comprise a metal material, in particular aluminum. The profile rails preferably consist of a metal material, in particular aluminum, or are primarily formed from such a material. Profile rails, in particular profile rails made of a metal material, such as aluminum, can have been produced in a continuous manufacturing process, for example in an extrusion process or a calendering process.
