SCIENTIFIC AREA

The present invention can be assigned to the field of handguns. Metals, alloys and projectile materials, their properties and their workability in various processes as well as the properties of the components accessible in this way are researched here.

GENERAL BACKGROUND

The present invention relates to developments associated with handguns in the form of retrofittable assemblies according to the preamble of the independent claims. For example, the US 5,183,959A a retrofit safety device that prevents the conversion of a semi-automatic weapon to full automatic. Also the DE 20 2007 004 073 U1 proposes an element that can be retrofitted, with which a breech of a handgun can be permanently locked against the installation of a continuous firing lever. The EP 1 914 502 A1 combines such a type of retrofit kit with an electronic system, which can also check the identity of the user via electrical measures and, depending on the person identified, can lock or unlock the weapon.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PRIOR ART

Although generic conversion kits often aim to increase operational reliability, they do not definitively prevent the basic automatic function, ie a fully automatic function or a semi-automatic function. Insofar as automatic or automatic function is spoken of below, this is to be understood as a generic term that includes both fully automatic and semi-automatic handguns and systems. With sufficient patience and fine mechanical skill, security measures can be expanded and the original danger potential of the weapon can be restored.

The disadvantage of the conversion kits of this type is therefore that the protection against operation as an automatic weapon or semi-automatic weapon is not of a definitive nature.

The object of the present invention was therefore to overcome the disadvantages of the prior art and to provide a conversion kit for a handgun and a converted handgun which, despite the weapon's original design as an automatic or semi-automatic weapon, makes it permanently impossible to use it as an automatic or semi-automatic weapon able to provide.

This problem is solved according to the features of the independent claims. Advantageous embodiments result from the dependent claims and the following description.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

According to the invention, a conversion kit is provided for a handgun whose design allows semi-automatic and/or automatic operation, which includes a new locking system that can be exchanged with the original locking system and thus at least partially replaces or changes it. The new locking system has a mechanism that can only be operated by hand, via which empty cartridge cases can be removed and new cartridges can be fed in. As a result, the handgun can be used permanently and exclusively as a repeating weapon after installing the conversion kit and disposing of the replaced original parts.

DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION AND ADVANTAGEOUS FEATURE

The retrofitting of weapons of various types is well known; so reveals the DE 36 11 674 A1 a removable magazine, which is designed to be compatible with an M098 bolt-action system. The retrofitting of bolt-action systems with elements from the field of automatic weapons can therefore be regarded as known.

In contrast, however, there is no document and no product known to the inventors that would allow the permanent conversion of a fully automatic or semi-automatic system to a repeating system. Against this background, the present invention recognizes for the first time the long-standing need to protect automatic and automatable handguns permanently and reliably by converting to a repeating system.

According to the invention, a conversion kit that includes a new locking system is provided for a handgun whose design allows semi-automatic and/or automatic operation. The new locking system can be exchanged with the original locking system and its design is adapted and/or designed to be adaptable to the respective weapon. The old, automatable locking system is thus completely replaced by the new locking system. The new locking system has a mechanism that can only be operated by hand, via wel chen empty cartridge cases can be removed and new cartridges can be fed. As a result, the handgun can be used permanently and exclusively as a repeating weapon after installing the conversion kit and disposing of the replaced original parts.

New cartridges can preferably also be fed from a magazine via the mechanism. A magazine simplifies use and further increases operational safety by not being able to misplace or drop cartridges.

The conversion kit preferably includes a rear stock. A stock that has been specifically adapted to the new locking system also makes subsequent dismantling more difficult, because the original parts can no longer be assembled into a handgun that can be used directly without the original stock.

The stock preferably includes an integrated handle for the trigger hand and thus allows both two-handed use in the manner of a long gun and one-handed handling or a secure grip in the sense of a handgun.

The conversion kit preferably includes a multi-part repeating linkage. Repeating linkages are established and can offer particularly durable and easy-to-maintain mechanisms that rarely jam or jam, thus further developing reliability and safety.

The conversion kit preferably includes a multi-part, non-ventilated forearm. A non-ventilated forearm makes ejection and reloading mechanisms, which are based on the targeted guidance of propellant gases, impossible and also makes it more difficult to dismantle the converted handgun.

The conversion kit preferably includes a gas discharge block and/or grain carrier. A specific gas discharge block safely discharges gases that were originally used for the reloading function. The permanent combination of new and old components - for example using a 2K PU assembly adhesive and/or welds and/or gap-filling, moisture-curing siloxane-based adhesive systems - makes dismantling the converted handgun even more difficult.

Preferably, the conversion kit includes a non-removable visual indicator. An optical indicator can allow the type of closure installed to be checked in a place that is not initially visible; alternatively or additionally, an indicator is also possible, which is kept in a signal color and makes the nature of the converted weapon clearly recognizable even at greater distances. The indicator is particularly preferably combined with a lead or seal system in order to facilitate simple and rapid checking.

Further advantages result from the exemplary embodiments. It goes without saying that the features and advantages described above and the following exemplary embodiments are not to be interpreted as restrictive. Additional, advantageous features and additional combinations of features, as explained in the description and established in the scientific field, can be realized within the scope of the independent claims in the claimed subject both individually and in different combinations without leaving the scope of the invention.

DETAILED EXPLANATION OF THE INVENTION USING EXEMPLARY EMBODIMENTS

In an advantageous embodiment, a handgun, preferably a long gun, which was originally designed as an automatic handgun or a weapon that can be used automatically, has been converted with a conversion kit according to the invention. Thus, the handgun's original design allowed for semi-automatic and/or automatic operation. As a result of conversion with the conversion kit according to the invention, the converted weapon has at least one new closure system which replaces the original closure system. The new locking system has a mechanism that can only be operated by hand, via which empty cartridge cases can be removed and new cartridges can be fed in.

INDUSTRIAL APPLICABILITY

Many handguns, particularly long guns, remain in their original design accessible to semi-automatic and/or automatic operation. The risk of illegal conversion and accidental operation of this operation is significant and a major disadvantage.

The task is to overcome this disadvantage.

By converting with a conversion kit according to the invention, which is proposed here, a weapon converted with it has at least one new locking system. The new locking system replaces the original locking system. The new breech system features a manual-only mechanism for removing empty cartridge cases and loading new cartridges. For the first time, a potentially automatically usable handgun can be permanently set to safe and non-removable bolt-action operation.
