Description

The present invention relates to a cosmetic made from a cosmetic preparation containing polycitronellol acetate (INCI: Polycitronellol Acetate) and a packaging made from HDPE, LDPE, PP or PET.

The desire to look beautiful and attractive is inherently rooted in people. Even if the ideal of beauty has changed over time, striving for a flawless appearance has always been the goal of people. The condition and appearance of the skin play a key role in a beautiful and attractive appearance.

In order for the skin to be able to fully fulfill its biological functions, it needs regular cleaning and care. The cleaning of the skin serves to remove dirt, sweat and residues of dead skin particles, which form an ideal breeding ground for pathogens and parasites of all kinds. Skin care products are mostly used to moisturize and re-oil the skin. Active ingredients are often added to them that regenerate the skin and, for example, prevent and reduce its premature aging (e.g. the formation of fine lines and wrinkles).

Skin care products are usually stored in packaging in the form of bottles, tubes or jars. These consist mainly of glass (glass crucibles) or plastics such as high-density polyethylene (HDPE), low-density polyethylene (LDPE), polypropylene (PP) or polyethylene terephthalate (PET).

The disadvantage of such packaging materials, which are inherently very cheap and extremely hygienic, is the fact that these packaging materials are not particularly sustainable / environmentally friendly, since they are made from petroleum products and / or natural gas and ultimately carbon dioxide from fossil fuels when they are thermally recycled (incineration in the waste incineration plant) Sources is released.

In order to conserve natural resources, attempts are therefore made to produce these packaging materials with as thin walls as possible.

These thin-walled packaging, however, have the disadvantage that, if the cosmetic preparation contained in it contains one or more oil components, they are not particularly storage-stable but rather swell on contact with the oil, since the oil is "sucked up" and absorbed by the plastic. In addition, the products can oil out. Last but not least, the oil in the plastic means that the labels printed on the packaging can smear and peel off. For these reasons, packaging of this type can either only be filled with oil-free preparations (e.g. toothpaste) or the packaging must be coated or sealed on the inside facing the cosmetic. For example, protective barriers made of ethylene vinyl alcohol are known from the prior art, which are relatively expensive and less easy to recycle than pure polyolefin packaging.

It was therefore the object of the present invention to develop a cosmetic from an oil-containing cosmetic preparation and a plastic packaging which is storage-stable, i.e. in which the oil absorption of the plastic packaging is significantly reduced without a protective layer (e.g. made of ethylene vinyl alcohol) having to be applied to the plastic.

If the cosmetic preparation according to the invention contains polycitronellol acetate (INCI: Polycitronellol Acetate), it is advantageous according to the invention if the preparation contains polycitronellol acetate (INCI: Polycitronellol Acetate) in a concentration of 0.1 to 10% by weight, based on the total weight of the preparation .

Comparative experiments

The penetration of the following cosmetic oils into the HDPE packaging material was examined. The product “Hostalen ACP 5831D” from Lyondellbasell was used as the HDPE.

Test execution
