Abstract

Description

The present invention relates to an electrical household appliance for ironing with an iron comprising a soleplate having a flat ironing surface overlaid by a housing and a handle arranged in a cantilevered manner with respect to the soleplate, and relates more particularly to an appliance , where a power cord comes out of the iron through a hole in the handle.

From the patent application FR 2 929 298 an ironing apparatus is known comprising an iron with a heating soleplate and a base connected to the iron by a power cord, the iron comprising a handle which is cantilevered with respect to the soleplate. In this document the cord is fed out of the iron through an opening made under the handle near the rear end of the handle so that the cord extends downwards when it is fed out of the handle. As a result, there is a significant risk that the cord will rub against the edge of the ironing board under the influence of gravity, and the laundry will crumple when the iron is moved. In addition, the iron also has the disadvantage of being unstable when standing directly on the ironing board, as the weight of the cable exerts a downward pull that tends to tip the iron around the back edge of the soleplate and it to edge of the ironing board, with a high risk of falling off the ironing board and damaging it.

An object of the present invention is to overcome these drawbacks by proposing a household electrical ironing appliance with improved ergonomics, in which the handle provided with its cantilever handle can be used with less interference from the cord and can be placed stably on the ironing board.

To this end, the subject of the invention is a domestic electric ironing appliance comprising an iron with a soleplate having a flat ironing surface surmounted by a body, a gripping handle having a front end integral with the body and a power cord exiting the iron through an opening formed in the handle, the handle being cantilevered with respect to the soleplate and having a free rear end, and characterized in that the opening is on an upper surface of the handle is attached.

According to yet another characteristic of the invention, the iron has, in the area of the opening, a cord guiding device which keeps the cord at the end of the handle in a preferred orientation.

According to another feature of the invention, the orientation given by the cable guide device is such that the cable exits the opening extending in a direction with a positive slope when the iron is lying flat on the ironing surface.

Such a technical feature makes it possible to hold the cord with an ascending direction when exiting the handle, which keeps the cord descending under the action of the weight as far as possible from the iron and thus prevents the cord from getting caught with the iron when ironing laundry comes into contact with.

According to another characteristic of the invention, the cable has, in the region of the cable guide device, an inclination with respect to the horizontal of between 20° and 70° and preferably of the order of 45° when the iron is lying flat on the ironing surface.

Such an inclination of the cable allows to optimize the distance between the cable falling down and the iron.

According to another characteristic of the invention, the cable management device comprises an elastomeric reinforcement sleeve. Such a cable routing device has the advantage that it is easy and inexpensive to install.

Such a technical solution has the advantage that it is simple and inexpensive to implement and at the same time offers good ergonomics when using it when setting up or removing the iron on or from the parking place.

The 1 , 2 and 6 Fig. 1 shows a household electrical ironing appliance, conventionally comprising an iron 1 and a portable base 2 connected to the iron 1 by a cord 3, the base 2 being electrically connected to a household network by a cord not visible in the figures connected is.

The base 2 comprises a lower level 22 intended to be laid flat on a horizontal surface such as an ironing board, a removable tank 20 and a pump 21 housed in shown schematically as a dashed line and takes water from the tank 20 to direct it to the iron 1 through a hose integrated in the cord 3.

The soleplate 10 is advantageously made of stainless steel and has a pointed front end 10A located opposite the grip 12 and a rounded rear end 10B where the soleplate 10 is at its greatest width.

Advantageously, the soleplate 10 has a length of less than 15 cm, preferably of the order of 14 cm, and a width of less than 10 cm, preferably of the order of 8 cm, in order to make the iron 1 very manageable.

According to 4 the cord 3 exits the iron 1 through an opening 15 made in an upper surface of the handle 12, the opening 15 preferably being located somewhat set back from the rear end of the handle 12, for example by a distance of the order of 1 up to 2 cm.

The opening 15 advantageously accommodates a cable guide device 4 which envelops the cable 3 and keeps it in a preferred direction D at the exit from the opening 15.

In the particular embodiment shown, the cable guide device 4 consists of an elastomeric reinforcement sleeve which keeps the cable 3 inclined towards the rear end of the handle 12, in a direction D forming an angle β with the horizontal plane H of the order of 45° , when the iron 1 is lying flat on the ironing surface of the soleplate 10.

In addition, the iron of this type has the advantage of being very handy, because the handle is cantilevered on one side of the body, which increases the movement of the soleplate, and because the weight of the iron is low thanks to the small size of the soleplate.

Such an appliance also has the advantage of having an iron 1 whose stability is improved if the user decides to place the iron 1 directly on the ironing board during the idle phases of ironing, thereby limiting the risk of falling.
