Die Folie, welche die Maße der Kälberbox aufweist, wird in die leere und saubere Box eingelegt und an der oberen Kante an die Wandelemente geklebt, gehängt, geklemmt oder übergestülpt wird (Schutzanspruch 3, 4, 5, 8, 9), sodass jegliche Abschlusselemente bedeckt sind die verschmutzen könnten. Anschließend wird die Box mit Stroh standardmäßig eingestreut. An der Folie befindet sich bei der Kälberbox und bei dem Iglu jeweils ein ausklappbarer Teil der Folie im Türbereich, wodurch das Kalb leichter ein- und ausgestallt werden kann. Nun kann das Kalb eingestallt werden. Das Kalb verbringt die ersten Lebenstage dann in der Kälberbox oder dem Iglu. Nach der Ausstallung wird je nach Anbringungsart die Folie gelöst und samt Stroh, Kot und Harn entsorgt. Die Folie wird dann bei einem Dunghaufen entleert und mit dem Plastikmüll entsorgt (Schutzanspruch 1). Bei der biologisch Abbaubaren Variante (Schutzanspruch 2) verbleibt das ganze Folienmaterial samt Inhalt auf dem Dunghaufen wo sich dieses dann selbstständig zersetzt.
