Am Ende des Siebes bildet sich sodann ein Pfropfen aus dem verbleibenden Feststoff. Das Sieb besteht blicherweise aus parallelen Stäben. Diese parallelen Stäbe sind zu einem steifen, zylindrischen Sieb verschweißt. Im Laufe der Benutzung des Pressschneckenseparators nutzen sich die Siebe ab und müssen in regelmäßigen Abständen ausgewechselt werden. Das hohlzylindrische Sieb mit dem Schlitz ist derart vorgeformt bzw. gefertigt, so dass es durch seine Eigenspannung aus der zylindrischen Form in eine zylindrische Form mit größerem Durchmesser aufspringen würde.
