Um Strom zu sparen, arbeiten Hochspannungs-Marderscheuchen häufig mit einem Hochspannungs-Ladekondensator. Der Nachteil ist aber, dass der Ladekondensator noch mehrere Minuten nach dem Abschalten der Betriebsspannung von der Autobatterie die Hochspannung speichert. Obwohl die Marderscheuche abgeschaltet ist, besteht noch mehrere Minuten die Gefahr, dass eine Person bei Berührung der Hochspannungsplatten einen elektrischen Schlag bekommt. Bisher war es üblich, mit einem Motorhaubenschalter bei Öffnung der Motorhaube die Betriebsspannung der Marderscheuche zu unterbrechen und den Kunden mit einem Aufkleber im Motorraum darauf hinzuweisen, dass noch ein paar Minuten lang Hochspannung vorhanden sein kann. Das wird aber manchmal von der Person nicht beachtet und sie bekommt einen elektrischen Schlag, weil sie nicht die Zeit der Entladung abgewartet hat.To save power, high-voltage marten-sweepers often use a high-voltage charging capacitor.
