Seit lange sind bekannt zum lötfreien Einbau von Decodern in Modelleisenbahnen die Schnittstellen nach den Normen Europäischer Modelleisenbahnen (z.B. NEM 652). Dieses 8-polige Schnittstelle wurde vor mehreren Jahren durch eine 21-polige Schnittstelle ergänzt. Mit dieser neuen Schnittstelle ist es möglich einen Decoder direkt ohne Verbindungslitzen auf eine Platine im Modelbahnfahrzeug zu stecken. Diese Schnittstelle (Marktbezeichnung MTC) wurde nun vom Normenauschuss des NMRA durch ein weiteres Schnittstellensystem (PluX) ergänzt.
