Abstract

The backflow flap for sewer shafts comprises a carrier body (5), a flap-and-float unit (1, 2, 4), a hinge (3) joining the carrier body and the flap-and-float unit, and a stop (6) corresponding to the shape of the channel (8).

Description

The kickback unit consists of a carrier body ( 5 ) the channel ( 8th ) encloses. On the carrier body ( 5 ) is the flap ( 2 ) with a seal ( 4 ) is provided in unity with the float body ( 1 ) by means of a joint ( 3 ) attached (see drawing). The floating body ( 1 ) consists of very abrasive material, which determines the pressure with which the flap ( 2 ) closes.

If the waste water rises in the shaft, the float moves ( 1 ) upwards, this closes the flap ( 2 ) against the attack ( 6 ) with a force determined by the buoyancy or size of the float ( 1 ) is determined. In wastewater technology, concrete shafts with a channel bottom are mainly used as inspection shafts. So far, the shafts have been manufactured without backflow flaps for cost and construction reasons. To prevent waste water backflow, a second shaft, usually made of plastic, with a backflow flap is necessary. Furthermore, conventional backflow flaps are mostly closed, which can easily lead to blockages caused by toilet paper, feces or the like. Flaps that are open during normal operation require an expensive and complex drive by an electric motor. The invention specified in the protection claim is based on the problem of creating a backflow valve which closes with a force greater than the weight of the valve and this without the use of electrical energy. The flap should be able to be installed during the manufacture of the lower channel part or later (by gluing or screwing). The flap should be open in normal operation and only close with great force when the water in the shaft rises, and without the use of electricity. This problem is solved with the features listed in the protection claim. With the invention it is achieved that the waste water can flow off without any hindrance in normal operation. If there is a backflow from the sewer, the flap closes automatically and with great pressure as the float rises. Due to the high closing pressure, the flap closes tightly even if there are small foreign bodies (branches, etc.) in the waste water.
