Abstract
When the passengers and hijackers have to rely on the oxygen masks, their mobility is restricted. Sky marshals traveling with the passengers may have their own mobile oxygen supply and may immobilize to hijackers. There may be an airtight bulkhead between the cockpit and the cabin. Several decompression valves (1) are mounted on the skin of the cabin (5) and have a valve plate (2) which seats on a carrier (11) inside the aircraft. When a valve is open, air escapes through holes in the skin (9) into a protective fairing (10). Each valve is opened by an air pressure cylinder (6) fed by an air pump (7). A coil spring returns the valve plate to its closed position.
