Die Forderung nach Gewichtsreduktion im Fahrradbau führt auch bei Sattelgestellen zur Verwendung von Carbonfaser-verstärktem Kunststoff (CFK). CFK ist aber spröde und daher anfällig für Kerben und Abrieb, was zum Bruch führen kann.
