Walking stick

The present invention relates to a walking stick for supporting a rod-shaped device, in particular an observation telescope or a rifle.

When hiking, hikers and nature lovers often use one or two walking sticks to make walking easier, especially in rough terrain. They also often carry telescopes with them to observe birds or game, for example. It is often considered annoying to use heavier telescopes with a high magnification factor without a support.

In another area, namely hunting, it can also be advantageous if the hunter can use a solid rest for his rifle. If the hunt is carried out from a high stand, the rifle can be rested on the stand without any problem. This becomes more difficult when hunting in open country, as natural rifle rests are not easy to find.

The present invention is therefore based on the object of avoiding the above-mentioned disadvantages in bird and game watching as well as in hunting and of offering the nature lover or hunter the possibility of setting up his observation telescope or rifle even where this is not possible due to the natural landscape conditions.

The invention is based on the finding that the above-mentioned object can be achieved by providing the walking stick, which is conventionally carried by the hiker or hunter, with an integrated support for a telescope or a rifle.

Accordingly, the present invention provides a walking stick for supporting a rod-shaped device, in particular a telescope or a rifle, characterized in that the walking stick comprises a scissor-like device which is attached to the upper end of the stick tube and, when unfolded, serves to support the rod-shaped device, in particular the telescope or rifle.

Since a walking stick is often carried when hiking and therefore also when hunting or observing animals, it is useful and convenient to accommodate a support for rod-shaped devices in such a walking stick, as there is no additional device to carry. The folding support device could be designed in such a way that it is at least not a hindrance when holding the stick when folded up, or it could take on a handle-like shape when folded up.

The walking stick can also have a sleeve that surrounds the scissor-like folding device and part of the stick tube. The sleeve serves to cover the support device and at the same time as the handle of the walking stick. It is conceivable that the sleeve is designed to be foldable and when opened it releases the support device, which can also be folded up, or that a plug-like sleeve closure is used. It is also conceivable that the sleeve is put over the foldable support device and screwed to the stick tube at the lower end.

Furthermore, the sleeve can be designed to be movable along the longitudinal axis of the pole tube. The hinged support device is released when the sleeve is moved downwards along the pole tube. This option has the advantage that

the sleeve does not have to be stored separately from the walking stick, but remains stored close to the stick.

Furthermore, the walking stick can have a means for fixing the sleeve. This offers the advantage that - as described above - the sleeve, which can be moved along the longitudinal axis of the pole tube, can be locked in place to serve as a handle or to prevent it from sliding down the entire pole tube when the support device is exposed.

In addition, the sleeve can have a captive lid cap at the top. This has the advantage that the sleeve is also closed at the top, e.g. in the form of a handle, and the lid cap therefore protects the folding device from dirt.

To prevent the opened lid cap from getting lost, it can be connected to the sleeve via a film hinge. The film hinge can be molded in during the manufacturing process. The film hinge can also help to ensure that the lid cap sits firmly on the sleeve.

The closed cover cap could also serve as a fixing device for the sleeve at the upper end of the walking stick by preventing the sleeve from slipping down. In this case, it is only necessary that the sleeve is additionally fixed to the pole tube in such a way that it cannot be removed from the walking stick upwards - for example, a ring-like thickening of the pole tube at a height within the lower end of the sleeve would be conceivable.

In addition, the sleeve can have a guide on the inside in the longitudinal direction of the pole tube, which prevents the sleeve from rotating about the longitudinal axis of the pole tube.

Furthermore, the sleeve can be moved downwards along the pole by activating a spring-loaded fixing device. A snap-on type fixing device could be conceivable, which - as soon as no more pressure is exerted on it - springs back into its original position and prevents the sleeve from sliding too far down the pole tube. However, an embodiment in which a fixing device is activated by pulling could also be conceivable.

In addition, the inner sides of the legs of the scissor-like folding device can have a recess that corresponds to the radius of the rod-like object. This makes it possible for the rod-like object, in particular the observation telescope or the rifle, to sit more securely in the recess.

The recess on the inside of the legs of the scissor-like folding device can also have a rubber coating. This makes it possible to prevent the rod-like object, in particular the observation telescope or rifle, from accidentally slipping.

Furthermore, one of the legs of the scissor-like folding device can be reinforced.

It is also conceivable that one of the legs of the scissor-like folding device has an extension with a thread at the top to which objects such as cameras can be attached. The thread is preferably designed in such a way that it fits the standardized threads of common cameras. The advantage of such a thread is that when the scissor-like folding device is not opened, a camera can be installed on the walking stick, which saves the hiker the additional transport of a tripod.

Furthermore, the scissor-like folding device can be spring-loaded. This ensures that the scissor-like folding device opens automatically as soon as the sleeve is moved downwards along the longitudinal axis of the pole tube.

In addition, the length of the walking stick can be telescopically adjustable to allow optimal height adjustment for the support of a telescope or rifle.

In the following, the walking stick according to the invention is described with reference to the accompanying drawings using the example of a preferred embodiment.

Figure 1 shows a first embodiment of the walking stick 1 in open (a) and closed form (b) as well as without sleeve 5 (c) in a

Side view. It is shown that the legs of the scissor-like device 3 at the upper end of the pole tube 4 in view a serve to support a rod-shaped device 2 (shown in cross section). It is also shown that the legs of the scissor-like device 3 each have a recess 10 on the inside, which is additionally provided with a rubber coating 11. It is also shown that one of the legs has a reinforcement 12. In addition, one of the legs is provided with a threaded extension 15, which is used to screw on a camera. Cameras are conveniently attached when the scissor-like device is folded up. The sleeve 5 is designed in the form of a handle, which is rotated so that the scissors are directed transversely to the direction of travel and surrounds the scissor-like device 3 and part of the pole tube. In addition, after opening the cover cap 7, the handle can be moved along the longitudinal axis of the pole tube (6), whereby the handle, which is initially fixed in the starting position (see illustration a), is released by pressing the spring-loaded fixing device 9 and can be moved downwards. A guide in the longitudinal direction 8 prevents the handle from twisting when being pushed down. In illustration c, the upper part of the pole tube is shown again together with the scissor-like device 3 without the sleeve 5, whereby the scissor-like device 3 is shown in the closed state, rotated at an angle of 90° to the illustrations a and b.

In Figure 2, it is clear in another embodiment that the sleeve 5, i.e. the handle, can be designed in different shapes. Here, too, the hinged cover cap 7 can be seen, as well as the guide tube in the handle 8.

Figure 3 shows another embodiment, where a different handle variant is also shown. In contrast to Figures 1 and 2,

This time, no hinged lid cap 7 is shown, but a plug-like means 16 which is used as a lid. Furthermore, a loop 13 is shown which is attached to the handle and which is adjustable in length. The handle (6) which can be moved along the pole is prevented by a means 14 from sliding down any further than the said means 4.

Figure 4 again shows the scissor-like folding device 3 attached to the upper end of the pole tube 4, which serves to hold a rod-shaped object (illustration a). No sleeve 5 is shown in this figure. The scissor-like folding device 3 is shown in illustration b from the perspective as in illustration a, but in the closed state. It is clearly visible how the two legs of the scissor-like device 3 run into each other. An extension 15 is shown on one of the legs, which has a thread to allow a camera to be screwed onto the folded device 3 (cf. Fig. 4 b and c). Illustration c shows the device from b, rotated at an angle of 90° around the longitudinal axis.

Claims (14)

1. Walking stick ( 1 ) for supporting a rod-shaped device ( 2 ), in particular an observation telescope or a rifle, characterized in that the walking stick comprises a scissor-like device ( 3 ) which is attached to the upper end of the stick tube ( 4 ) and, in the unfolded state, serves to support the rod-shaped device ( 2 ), in particular the observation telescope or rifle. 2. Walking stick according to claim 1, characterized in that a sleeve ( 5 ) surrounds the scissor-like folding device ( 3 ) and a part of the stick tube. 3. Walking stick according to claim 2, characterized in that the sleeve ( 5 ) is displaceable along the longitudinal axis of the stick tube. 4. Walking stick according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that it has a means for fixing the sleeve. 5. Walking stick according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the sleeve ( 5 ) has a captive cover cap ( 7 ) at the upper end. 6. Walking stick according to claim 5, characterized in that the captive cover cap ( 7 ) is connected to the sleeve ( 5 ) via a film hinge. 7. Walking stick according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the sleeve on the inside comprises a guide in the longitudinal direction ( 8 ) which prevents the rotation of the sleeve about the longitudinal axis of the stick tube. 8. Walking stick according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the sleeve can be moved downwards along the stick by actuating a spring-loaded fixing device ( 9 ). 9. Walking stick according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the inner sides of the legs of the scissor-like folding device have a recess ( 10 ) which corresponds to the radius of the rod-like object. 10. Walking stick according to claim 9, characterized in that the recess on the inner sides of the legs of the scissor-like folding device has a rubber coating ( 11 ). 11. Walking stick according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that one of the legs of the scissor-like folding device is reinforced ( 12 ). 12. Walking stick according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that one of the legs of the scissor-like folding device has an extension with a thread ( 15 ) at the upper end, to which objects such as cameras can be attached. 13. Walking stick according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the scissor-like folding device ( 3 ) is spring-loaded. 14. Walking stick according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the length of the walking stick is telescopically adjustable.
