It is known that the partial negatives are used in three-color photography and in the three-color printing process produced in such a way that the photographs are taken under red, green and violet filters, with The prerequisite is that the photographic layers also pass through for all the filters Radiation types are sensitive. It is often advantageous to use panchromatic Plates used. The production of the monochrome positives and the overprint of these negatives Printing plates are then made with the colors complementary to the filter colors, such as blue, purple and yellow.
The latest advances in photochemistry have now made it possible for the sensitive Layers for the radiation types complementary to the positive or printing inks see above strong to sensitize that even without using filters for the visible Rays the desired color eliminations can be achieved, yet is the result in different circumstances a different one. It changes both according to the type of Original like after the type of lighting. The reason for this is to be found in the fact that Pigmerite colors, including those which appear similar to the eye, quite different Reflect parts of invisible rays (mostly ultraviolet). Because now the halogen silver molecules of the negative layer are excitable by ultraviolet light, the nervous organs of the human eye but not, so it cannot be a matter of indifference whether. an original is illuminated with headlights, its strong glass prism body very much absorb a lot of ultraviolet light, or, with a lamp, extraordinarily large amounts Emits ultraviolet rays, such as the reginal lamp. Again other conditions are available when illuminated with daylight and with regard to the originals it is clear that a varnished oil painting is less invisible Rays reflected as a watercolor or guache picture.
This problem is remedied by the inclusion of rays that are visible to all permeable medium which absorbs the invisible rays, such as. Legs sulfuric acid quinine solution or an aesculin solution.
This equation of the conditions for The chemical effects of light with the physiological processes in the eye make it possible to produce partial negatives without using filters for any type of originals in any lighting.
