Abstract
Description
The invention relates to thixotropic aqueous paints tend rheology control agent based on chlorinated Po lyolefins and the use of the modified paints for Primer or single coat paint especially from Plastics.
The application properties of aqueous paints and the Er Appearance of the applied paint films are decisive determined by the rheological properties of the paint. For aqueous paints, preferably by spraying must be applied, special, due to the specific evaporation behavior of water, from Rheolo differentiating additives for solvent-based paints Rheology additives are used.
The rheology of the aqueous varnishes is said to provide this be that the paint has a high shear rate Viscosity and a low viscosity at high shear rates activity, i.e. exhibits thixotropic behavior. The high viscosity low shear rates, for example, to sediment the solid particles in the paint and the To prevent the formation of sacks. The low viscos at high shear rates is especially for the Spray application of the paints important. Furthermore, the Coatings have low elasticity at high shear rates sen.
Die Fluorkohlenwasserstoff- Polymerisate und insbesondere ihre monomeren Edukte sind ökologisch sehr bedenklich und werden zunehmend substitu iert.EP-A-0 399 442 describes rheological additives for aqueous paints described, which consists of a combination of hydrophilic, col loidal silica and a water soluble or water dis Pearable fluorocarbon polymer, which 2 up to 25% by weight fluorine, based on the fluorocarbon Polymer, consist, contains. The fluorocarbon Polymers and especially their monomeric starting materials ecologically very questionable and are increasingly being substituted iert.

The German patent application DE-OS 44 12 655 includes water dilutable binders made by polymerization component (A) consisting of (a1) acrylic and / or Methacrylic acid, in the presence of (H) a halogen-free Po lyolefins and (C) a radical generator. Aqueous paints that these binders are used for priming or single-layer painting of plastics used. The coating systems described in DE-OS 44 12 655 have in al len advantages described there disadvantages in rheological Behavior, particularly when using Sedi mentation problems and sackers.
In the German patent application based on DE-OS 44 12 655 dung DE-OS 195 38 147 become water-dilutable binders described, prepared by polymerization of the above be Component (A) written in the presence of a specific Olefin copolymers (B) and a radical generator (C), the also for priming or single-layer painting of plastics. Here too, the already described rheological problems with the Paint application on.
Neben diesen Haftvennittlern werden in DE-A-43 27 468 noch übliche Rheologiehilfsmittel eingesetzt.DE-A-43 27 468 comprises a process for painting plastics using a coating agent which, in addition to a one- or two-component binder, comprises at least one adhesion promoter (a) in an amount of 1 to 25% by weight, based on the binder , wherein the adhesion promoter (a) is a chemically modified polyolefin with a weight average molecular weight Mw of 10,000 to 100,000 daltons, a non-uniformity of 1.0 to 6.5 and a chlorine content of 2.5 to 50% by weight , characterized in that OH-functional, hydrophobic esters of (i) polyhydric alcohols and (ii) aliphatic C 8 - to C 22 -monocarboxylic acids with an OH number of 50 to 600 in an amount of 20 to 80 wt .-%, based on (a) used. In addition to these adhesion promoters, conventional rheology aids are also used in DE-A-43 27 468.
The technical basis of the present invention The task consists in further improvement the rheological properties of those in DE-OS 44 12 655 and DE-OS 195 38 147 described water-dilutable binders and aqueous paints containing these binders and in Process for priming or single - layer painting of Plastics can be used. On the one hand, the Use of ecologically unsafe fluorocarbons polymer polymers, on the other hand the use of conventional rheo logistic aids, in particular based on layered film likates that cause problems with the water resistance of the Lead paint films and their incorporation is expensive, ver be avoided.
