Abstract
The process is suitable for removing optical brighteners from paper fiber materials. Here, for. B. generated by intense stirring high shear forces that solve the fixation of the optical brightener to the paper fibers together with high temperatures and low consistency. The optical brighteners released in this way are then removed from the suspension, e.g. B. by washing.
Description
The invention relates to a method according to the preamble of claim 1.
It is known to provide certain types of paper with optical brighteners, especially to raise the whiteness. Such optical brighteners are able in the invisible UV spectrum at a wavelength of e.g. B. 350 to 360 nm absorb this light and in the visible range, e.g. B. at a wavelength of 440 nm to emit again. The reinforcing effect at about 440 nm leads to a - desired - increase in the degree of whiteness if this with UV luminescence is measured. This phenomenon is called fluorescence. It leads to a Fibers with an optical brightener additive appear whiter to the viewer than they are in Is reality. In addition to the artificially produced brighteners are also natural Occurring groups of substances, such as B. vinyl ethers, stilbenes, quinones and lignins, in the Able to produce fluorescence. Brighteners differ from those Direct dyes because they only absorb light in the visible spectrum and emit without the incident wavelength significantly in position move.
In the case of paper, optical brighteners are usually obtained in an amount of 0.1 to 3% on the otro fiber. How to draw with direct dyes the optical brighteners on the fiber. Only after that and when it is fixed on the fiber , the brightener molecules are fully effective. The optical brightener is with Fiber is particularly tightly bonded, which is too considerable in waste paper processing Can cause difficulties. Because, in addition to the mechanical, in many cases also chemical processes can be used contained optical brighteners are destroyed, for. B. by bleaching with ozone, so lose their lightening effect. With ozone z. B. in US 5,529,660 described procedure.
According to US 4,098,954, the use of quaternary ammonium salts The effect of the brighteners can be increased or weakened.
In der JP 6-35 113 A (engl. In JP 6-35 113 A (English section) the use of dichloroisocynurate is used chemical decomposition of brighteners from waste paper.
The brightening effect can also increase, e.g. B. by bleaching with FAS. It undesirable color shifts can also occur. Lightfastness too and aging stability of the paper can be reduced by optical brighteners. The presence of optical brighteners is often considered disadvantageous or even inadmissible viewed because these are chemicals that are toxicologically unsafe can. This is especially true for papers and cardboards from which Food packaging are manufactured. Tissue papers should at least be free of optical brighteners for certain types.
The invention is therefore based on the object of a method for treating a to create appropriate pulp suspension in which a large part of the contained optical brightener is removed.
This object is achieved by those mentioned in the characterizing part of claim 1 Features resolved.
The process combines the use of turbulent flow conditions with the effect of high temperatures in the pulp suspension. The Suspension with a consistency below 2%, so that the turbulence is easy can train. In addition, the relatively low consistency Probability of contact of the optical brightener with the fibers and thus the danger the re-fixation greatly reduced. With simultaneous application of high Shear forces in the suspension, which are significantly higher than those for pure Mixing in a pulp suspension is required desired effect further increased. It has been shown that through these combinations the optical brighteners firmly attached to the paper fibers can be detached. she are detached in fine form, so that they e.g. B. by washing from the suspension are removable. Selective flotation is also conceivable.
