Description
Decorative lamps which consist of a transparent, hermetically sealed container of any generally cylindrical shape, an upwardly open hollow foot in which the container stands and a downwardly open hollow cap which is slipped over the upper end of the container are known. The inner surface of the hollow foot has a recess at the upper end just below the opening on which the container rests. A light bulb and its socket are arranged in the cavity thus created below the bottom of the container. The electrical lines are led laterally through the wall of the foot. This light bulb is used to illuminate the container and to heat the liquids in it. The container is filled with two immiscible liquids with different specific gravity at normal temperature, the specific heavier liquid having a higher coefficient of thermal expansion and a greater surface tension than the specific one lighter liquid. If the container is heated, the liquid, which is specifically heavier at normal temperature, expands more strongly than the liquid, which is specifically lighter at normal temperature. At and above a certain temperature, the liquid, which is specifically heavier at normal temperature, then has the same or a lower density than the liquid which is specifically lighter at normal temperature. The liquid, which is specifically heavier at normal temperature, then rises in the form of bubbles in the liquid, which is specifically lighter at normal temperature. When it rises, it cools down again because the temperature is lower in the upper end of the container. If a height is reached at which the temperature is lower than the specified temperature, the bubbles stop and, as a result of the cooling and the associated increase in density, sink back to the bottom of the container, where they are heated up again and then rise. The power of the light bulb below the bottom of the container and the two liquids must be adjusted accordingly. In general, a 40 watt bulb is used and the two liquids are adjusted so that the bubbles of the liquid, which is specifically heavier at normal temperature, rise at a temperature of about 37 ° C. Hydrocarbones, chlorinated, brominated and ceded, hydrocarbones, silicones, phthalic acid esters, etc. are suitable as liquids that are specifically heavier at normal temperature the lamp are used. Water, which contains substances that reduce surface tension, glycerine, larein, ethylene, propylene, polyethylene glycol, hydrazine, all pure or dissolved in water, etc., is suitable as a specifically lighter liquid at normal temperature, etc. In order to achieve a good decorative effect, the liquid, which is specifically heavier at normal temperature, is suitable colored or colored. Oil dyes can be used as dyes. After a longer period of operation, the liquid, which is specifically heavier at normal temperature, tends to disintegrate into many small bubbles that do not easily reunite. For this reason, a surface tension breaker, e.g. B. a wire spiral arranged, whereby it is achieved that the sinking back to the bottom bubbles reunite when they reach the bottom.
Most of the dyes that are suitable for coloring substances that are specifically heavier at normal temperature dissolve in both liquids over time. As a result, the liquid, which is specifically lighter at normal temperature, slowly takes on the color of the specifically heavier liquid. The decorative effect is lost.
The object of the present invention is to design the decorative lamp so that the decorative effect is not lost even after a long period of operation.
Diese Aufgabe wird im wesentlichen dadurch gelöst, daß zwischen der Licht- und Wärmequelle und den Flüssigkeiten ein im Durchmesser dem Durchmesser desThis object is essentially achieved in that between the light and heat source and the liquids a diameter of the diameter of the
The container is arranged in an approximately corresponding colored or colored, translucent color filter, which preferably or only allows light of one color to pass through.
There is no need to add dyes to one of the two or both liquids. The incident light in the container is reflected by the rising bubbles and absorbed by this, causing the rising bubbles to appear in the color that is transmitted by the filter.
As a color filter, colored or colored plates made of translucent material, e.g. B. glass, serve. It is also possible to paint the bottom surface or surface or the plates on the top or bottom with a coat of translucent paint, e.g. B. paint to provide. Furthermore, it is possible to provide the floor or the plate with several strips of different colors arranged next to one another or around one another, or to use floors or plates which are composed of appropriately colored strips. Light bulbs can also be used, the glass of which is appropriately colored or colored or has been provided with a corresponding paint. Finally, it is also possible to use light bulbs that only emit light of a certain wavelength, e.g. B. only red, only blue, etc., emit. The invention is shown, for example, on the two models.
Both models consist of the hollow, upwardly open foot, the container and the hollow, downwardly open cap. The socket is in the hollow foot a lightbulb and this arranged itself. The electrical leads are led through the side wall of the foot. Above the light bulb, the side wall of the cavity in the foot jumps back. In one of the models, a circular glass plate lies on the flat ring surface formed in this way, on one side of which three stripes of varnish of different colors are arranged. The cylindrical container made of colorless glass, in which the two liquids are located, stands on this glass plate. The container is designed as a bottle and closed at the top with a screw cap. The hollow cap, which is open at the bottom, is placed over the closure and connected to the container in any form, e.g. B. glued on this.
In the second model, instead of a glass plate with several different colored stripes of lacquer colors, the bottom of the container is provided on the underside with different colored stripes of lacquer colors.
