Mittels eines handelsüblichen Computers werden die gespeicherten Daten gemäß Block 4 gelesen. Gemäß Block 6 werden auf der Anzeigeeinheit des Computers Vorschaubilder der Pläne angezeigt. In zweckmäßiger Weise werden mit dem Vorschau bild in einem vorgebbaren Bereich der Anzeigeeinheit gleichzeitig auch die Namen, insbesondere die Dateinamen, zumindest eines Teiles der gespeicherten Gleispläne angezeigt. In einem weiteren Verfahrensschritt erfolgt die Auswahl des gewünschten Gleisplanes gemäß Block 8. Nachfolgend wird der ausgewählte Gleisplan komplett auf der Anzeigeeinheit angezeigt wie es mit dem Block 10 verdeutlicht ist. Ferner kann der als vektorisierte Daten gespeicherte Gleisplan entsprechend Block 12 bedarfsweise vergrößert oder verkleinert werden. In einem weiteren Verfahrensschritt wird die Möglich keit eröffnet, den angezeigten Gleisplan zu drucken, wie es mit der Verzweigung 14 dargestellt ist.
