The determination of ametropia (refraction determination) is one of the most common
taken examinations of the eye. In addition to the subjective determination, which alternately

Patients who have to state what they see or think they see are taking place are the objecti
ven measurement methods in which the patient's cooperation is limited to one device
(Eye refractometer). With this test figures or light spots are on
the retina of the patient's eye and from the image formed by the scattered light
the ametropia is concluded.
Netzhaut reflektierte Licht auswertet.Eye refractometers exist as manual-visual systems in which the examiner uses the mesh

The invention relates to a measuring device ( Fig. 1), in which a light source 3 illuminates the eye of the subject 1 through a converging lens 2 . An aperture 4 is expediently near the plane of the light source and covers this from the direction of view of the investigator 7 . If the light source is located substantially outside the far point plane of the examined eye, part of the light reflected from the retina and refracted again by lens 2 can pass through the aperture plane and illuminate the pupil of the patient's eye. The aperture causes the brightness distribution visible in the pupil to not evenly fill the pupil. It is observed by the examiner 7 or with a camera, its structure is characteristic of the ametropia and can be changed by the axial distance of the diaphragm and light source from the focal plane of the lens 2 on the image side, and by the distance of the light source from the edge of the diaphragm, whereby measuring sensitivity and measuring range can be optimized.
