Abstract
Description
It is known that people protect themselves against toxic components in the air they breathe by using respirators, also called gas masks. These masks consist of a form-fitting covering of the face area and mostly consist of rubber or a supple synthetic rubber. The breathing air flows into the mask through a screw-in filter ( Fig. 1; c). A valve ( Fig. 1; a) ensures that the air cannot be blown out through the filter insert when exhaling, but must leave the mask through special outlet openings ( Fig. 1; b). Valves, which prevent the unfiltered inflow of air, are also located in these outlet openings.
The filters used for breathing masks are usually multi-layered built up. They hold back particles mechanically. Chemical impregnation bind a variety of gases and vapors. It is known that despite the Use of masks regularly to incidents with sometimes significant health damage comes to the users of the mask. These are often firefighters, chemical workers, civil protection services and the like more. The cause is often that the mask wearer feel very safe and there are leaks at the end of the mask Face, technical defects on the mask, etc. during use overlooked. The carrier can also poorly assess the danger that in the event of fire e.g. B. starts from carbon monoxide. Carbon monoxide is a toxic one Gas, which is not retained by conventional filters and therefore without can also reach the wearer of the mask.
Diese Erfindung erhöht die Sicherheit der Träger von Atemschutzmasken. This invention increases the safety of wearers of respirators.
For this purpose, it is proposed according to the invention, in the interior of the mask Introduce sensors that are sensitive to penetrating gases or vapors react.
According to the invention, sensors are to be used whose gas sensitive Active layer is preferably a metal oxide. Both a heated ceramic plates are used as well as a heated one Silicon membrane.
In addition, according to the invention, suitable detection systems should be in or on the mask warn the user visually or acoustically or about the current status inform. This can e.g. B. via LEDs, which are in the field of vision on the the mask are arranged.
The evaluation methods must be suitable, the influences of air humidity to minimize or eliminate. Because with intermittent exhalation into the mask the air humidity increases sharply, whereas when inhaled, it increases very much greatly reduced. These intermittent fluctuations in air humidity have an effect rely heavily on traditionally operated gas sensors. For this reason z. T. evaluation strategies used to avoid these disadvantages. in the Evaluation strategies such as those in the Patent applications P 196 17 297.7 and P 195 43 296.7 described in detail are.
According to the invention, however, the sensor should be at an optimal sensor level Be arranged. Here is between a cheaper version with only one sensor z. B. for applications where no toxins too are expected and a version with several e.g. two sensors differentiate.
For the first version, the sensor is preferably arranged in the immediate vicinity of the wearer's mouth and nose ( FIG. 1; f). In this way, the filter and the tightness of the exhalation valves ( Fig. 1; b) as well as the entire respiratory mask can be checked at the same time.
For the second version, the filter element is to be monitored with a sensor, which is preferably arranged in the intermediate space ( FIG. 1; d) between the filter insert and check valve. There, the sensor cannot be irritated by the exhaled humidity. However, it is disadvantageous that leakages, e.g. B. remain undetected between mask and head shape. In order to be able to recognize the resulting dangers, at least one further sensor according to the invention is arranged in the inner region ( FIG. 1; e) of the mask and, depending on the design of the mask, preferably not in the immediate vicinity of the mouth and nose of the wearer, or not to be exposed to extreme humidity fluctuations.
According to the invention, the sensor element is separated from the air space by membranes Mask separated.
Es handelt sich hierbei z. B. um semi-permeable Membranen aus z. B. gestreckter PTFE-Folie. It is e.g. B. to semi-permeable membranes from z. B. stretched PTFE film. Gas strives to always have the same gas pressure to assume. Gas molecules diffuse without appreciable extension of the For this reason, reaction time by such foils, against Droplets of saliva, condensation and the like can be excluded. This Foils are preferably in the form of a sandwich in one or more layers embedded between wire mesh, creating the foils and the sensor element mechanical damage is protected against major air movements.
The power consumption is made up of batteries with sufficient capacity for a usual period of use of often several hours is provided. Since it is impossible for the batteries to be arranged within the mask leave, it is proposed according to the invention that an electrical line or a plug (e.g. by induction) is led out of the mask in a gas-tight manner and leads to a battery case, which is on a shoulder strap or on Belt can be worn. This means that even during operation easy battery replacement possible.
The invention can be carried out in numerous variations. Together is that there are gas sensors inside the mask, which of electronics are evaluated, with penetration of harmful gases an appropriate alarm to the user of the Mask is done.
