Durch diesen schräg um­ laufenden Wulst auf der Mantelfläche der Rolle kann eine orts- und drehwin­ kelabhängige Eigenfrequenzverteilung der Zugstränge in dem Treibriemen erzeugt werden. Dadurch stellen sich in den Trums zwischen zwei Rollen keine ausgeprägten konstanten Eigenfrequenzen der Zugstränge und damit des Treib­ riemens ein, sondern nur noch ein Eigenfrequenzbereich, der durch den Modu­ lationsgrad der Umlenkrolle bestimmt wird. Dieser Modulationsgrad ist ab­ hängig vom Verhältnis des Rollenumfangs zur Periodenlänge des umlaufenden Wulstes.
