Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a method for producing leather, wherein in the course of the Vorger Exercise and / or tanning aqueous dispersions are used, the special copolymers contain. The application of these dispersions leads to an improvement in the cleavage of skins.
From EP-A-646 651 it is known that dispersions of selected amphiphilic copolymers, which consists of a predominant proportion of a hydrophobic monomer and a subordinate th portion of a copolymerizable hydrophilic monomer are built up in the course of Le the production - when used in the pre-tanning or tanning process step - to a ver leads to better release of moisture during subsequent wringing, with the result that that there is an improved cleavage of the skins. EP-A-646 651 teaches here expressly that not every combination of hydrophilic and hydrophobic monomer Building blocks leads to suitable amphiphilic copolymers; it is rather the case that the mono mer building blocks must be selected from very specific groups of substances.
The object of the present invention was to provide further substances which lead to a Improve the cleavage of skins when these substances are in the course of Leather production can be applied in pre-tanning and / or tanning.

In a preferred embodiment, components a) and b) are in weight ratio ratios used, which are in the range of about 1: 1 to 2: 1. Which may exist Components c) are in smaller amounts by weight, usually below 20% related on the sum of components a) and b) - included.
The aqueous dispersions have a pH value in the range from neutral to weakly basic posed and lie in particular as a water-dilutable aqueous pasty mass with valuable substance held the copolymer in the range of about 30 to 50 wt .-% before.
Dabei kommt der in gesättigten Fettalkoholen des Bereichs von 12 bis 18 C-Atomen für die Ausbildung des Monomer-Bau steins a) besondere Bedeutung zu.The monomer units a) are half-esters of maleic acid with lipophilic or oleophilic alcohols, in addition to or instead of the alcohols also their alkylene oxide adducts can be used. It is preferred here the number of alkylene limit oxide groups to a maximum of 6, based on the alcohol component. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, however, is with oleophilic maleic acid half esters worked as component a), which is free of such alkylene oxide derivatization are. Half-esters of maleic acid with straight-chain and / or are particularly suitable here branched alcohols of oleophilic character which are at least predominantly 8 to 10 or more C atoms contained in the molecule. It is preferred to include such maleic acid half esters set, the alcohol residues have 12 to 24 carbon atoms, which are usually saturated, ge if desired, however - at least partially - oleophinically one or more times can be saturated. Corresponding com. Are particularly important ester-forming fatty alcohols components of natural origin, such as, for example, by reduction from fatty acids Lichen origin can be obtained in a manner known per se. The comes in saturated Fatty alcohols in the range of 12 to 18 carbon atoms for the formation of the monomer construction Steins a) special meaning.
Acrylic acid is preferred as monomer building block b). If desired, you can also Mixtures of acrylic acid and methacrylic acid are used, in which the amount of acrylic acid predominates.
The copolymerization of building blocks a), b) and, if desired, c) is expedient performed so that the resulting copolymers with average molecular weights (Weight average) in the range of about 500 to 20,000. Are particularly suitable such copolymers of the type described, which have an average molecular weight in the range of have about 1,000 to 10,000.
The copolymers are prepared from building blocks a), b) and optionally c) according to the invention by aqueous emulsion copolymerizations. The purpose of this is in detail moderately worked as follows: The separately produced maleic acid half ester is in slightly preheated water - if necessary after melting - finely emulsified. Alkalization with in particular NaOH results in a weakly acidic to neutral pH set. Preferred pH values are in the range from about 4.5 to 7, in particular from 6 to 7. At temperatures in the range of the boiling point of the water, usually above half of 90 ° C, then an aqueous solution of component (s) b) - especially acrylic acid - metered in and, through simultaneous pH regulation, compliance with the pH Assured value. At the same time, an initiator for the radical reaction is added, especially hydrogen peroxide. After the conclusion of the usually several-hour reak tion, in which a post-reaction phase is usually carried out, in the aqueous reac medium to a neutral to weakly alkaline pH value. Let it this way to produce pasty masses, the valuable content of copolymer, for example, in the range is from about 30 to 45% by weight and the unreacted monomer units only still present in amounts well below 1% by weight, preferably below 0.5% by weight they are. Preferred pH values for the storage-stable product are in the range from pH 7 to 8. The pasty masses can be mixed with water and / or aqueous active ingredient mixtures at any time mixable.
The following examples serve to illustrate the invention and are not one to understand restrictively.
In the following, a general rule for the preparation of the oligomers according to Examples 1 to 6 based on acrylic acid and maleic acid / fatty alcohol half ester and, if appropriate, maleic acid is given first. The molar ratio of acrylic acid to maleic acid derivative was 1: 1.44 in each case. The following applies in detail:
In a reaction vessel with stirrer, heating, cooling, reflux condenser, temperature measurement and 3 feed vessels, a mixture of maleic acid half ester (MAA half ester) and optionally maleic anhydride and enough water is given that an approximately 44% by weight reaction mixture is present. The procedure is as follows:
The water is placed in a well-stirred reaction vessel and heated to about 35 ° C. When maleic anhydride (Examples 1 and 2) is also used, this component is first added in portions in such a way that the internal temperature of the reaction mixture remains below approx. 55 ° C. (time required approx. 20 minutes; possibly weak external cooling). After completely dissolving the maleic anhydride, the - if necessary melted - maleic acid half ester is added. The template is then neutralized by adding NaOH cookies in portions to a pH of approximately 7.0. The internal temperature rises to a maximum of 80 ° C. The reactor contents are then heated to 90 ° C.
Dabei gilt die folgende Rahmenrezeptur:After reaching a temperature inside the reactor of 90 ° C with the addition of Zu running solutions and the starter started. The following general formula applies:
1,44 Mol (Maleinsäure-Halbester und gegebenenfalls Maleinsäureanhydrid) + soviel Wasser,
daß eine 44 gew.-%ige Mischung vorliegt.
2 Mol Natriumhydroxidplätzchen
1.44 mol (maleic acid half-ester and optionally maleic anhydride) + so much water that a 44% by weight mixture is present.
2 moles of sodium hydroxide cookies
72 Gewichtsteile Acrylsäure (AS), ca. 1 Mol, 32 Gewichtsteile Wasser, demineralisiert72 parts by weight of acrylic acid (AS), approx. 1 mol, 32 parts by weight of water, demineralized
8 Gewichtsteile Ammoniumperoxidisulfat, gelöst in 32 Gewichtsteilen Wasser, demineralisiert.8 parts by weight of ammonium peroxydisulfate, dissolved in 32 parts by weight of water, demineralized.
28 Gewichtsteile 35%iges Wasserstoffperoxid.28 parts by weight of 35% hydrogen peroxide.
Allowance 1 is added evenly over a period of 5 hours. Parallel For this purpose, the feed solutions 2 and 3 are inside over a period of 6 hours at 100 ° C. Temperature added evenly - this can cause slight reflux. Then will the reaction mixture was reheated at 100 ° C. for 1 hour. After cooling to approx. 80 ° C a pH of about 7 is brought in by careful addition of aqueous 20% sodium hydroxide solution poses. There are beige-pasty end products, the dry residue (IR- Drying balance, 150 ° C) is determined.
A mixture based on maleic acid was used as the reaction component based on maleic acid hydride (MSA) and maleic anhydride half-esters (MSA half-esters) used. The half-star was by reacting the appropriate amount of MSA with dodecanol (saturated C₁₂ fatty al alcohol).
A mixture of MSA / MSA half esters was used. The half was the end Settlement product of the MSA with C₁₆ fatty alcohol. The oligomer obtained was initially lumpy, a homogeneous reaction mass was present only after standing overnight and heating.
The MSA half ester was a mixed product based on the alcohol components C 16/18 -fatty alcohol mixture and 2-ethylhexanol (2-EtOH), for the quantity ratio see the table below. The reaction mixture was very lumpy during the reaction and was subsequently diluted with water because of its high viscosity.
The aqueous maleic acid half ester approach corresponded in its nature to the approach of Example 3, in addition, however, this reaction mixture was C₁₈ sulfosuccinate half-ester Emulsifier added. A highly viscous but homogeneous reaction product was obtained.
The half ester was used as the reaction component based on maleic acid C₁₂ fatty alcohol - without the addition of MSA - used.
The reaction component based on MAA half ester was the mixture of the half esters based on C 16/18 fatty alcohol and 2 ethylhexanol (2-EtOH) identified in the table below; In contrast to Example 3, double the amount of water was used in the template from the start. A reaction product was obtained which separated into two phases after 24 hours at room temperature.
The copolymers according to Examples 1 to 6 were in aqueous dispersion in the course of Pretanning or tanning in amounts in the range from 0.1 to 20% by weight, preferably in Range from 0.3 to 10 wt .-% used. The percentages by weight stated relate in this case based on% by weight of active substance (= copolymer) based on the weight of the employed Skin. It was found that the skins treated in this way wrung very well let drain. This led - especially when the copolymers according to Examples 1 to 6 in the range from 1 to 5% by weight were applied to skins which are characterized by a excellent splittability.
