Abstract

The wire wrapping tool with two work spindles is used in the connection of telecommunications equipment for carrying out point to point wiring in a field of pin terminals. The wire (3) is fed from a reel (4) to the first wrapping spindle (7a) and from thence via a guide (10) with rollers (9, 13) it is threaded into the second spindle (7b). The use of rollers minimises the thrust required to push the wire along its prescribed course and also reduces the risk of distortion and jamming. Before the wrapping process starts the guide swings clear of the spindles. Easier and more reliable threading allows a greater degree of automation.
