Abstract

Permanent fuse capable of repeatedly performing the current limiting operation, comprising: (a) a body of current limiting material which responds to an access flow of current by evaporating so as to perform a current limiting operation, and which is restored to its original state after completion of the operation; (b) a pressure proof enclosure surrounding (a) and incorporating a pair of concave and convex metallic members in the form of hollow cylinders, one of which has an end portion of reduced diameter loosely inserted into the adjacent end portion of the other cylindrical member to form a gap in between; and (c) a solid material filling the gap and the interior of the cylindrical members except for (a) to unite the members into a unitary structure, the solid consisting of electrically insulating and resisting material.
