Abstract

The dumbbell consists of a tubular bar with weights at the ends. The bar (12) may be vibrated. The vibrations are not transmitted to the weights (16, 18), because an oscillation-dampening material is located between bar and weights. This is formed by a ring (14) around the bar. The bar contains a motor (20) near its centre of gravity. The motor rotor is unbalanced, and/or is in rotary connection with an unbalanced mass (24). The vibration-insulation ring is located in an incompressible ring, which may carry additional weights.

Description

The invention relates to a dumbbell, which consists essentially of a tubular barbell and up on the ends set weights.

Dumbbells of the type mentioned are used for muscle training, ins particular of the biceps brachii muscle (two-headed arm muscle) and the triceps brachii muscle (three-headed arm muscle). Set training sequences with conventional dumbbells high demands on the endurance of the trainee, because measurable success can only be achieved after long training. Problems can also arise during the exercises Set rough and fine coordination of the movement sequences.

From DE 36 09 363 C2 is a barbell with a tubular gene known barbell, which carries weights at its ends. These are in thickened, hollow head formations orderly. The cavity is larger than the one inside Weight. This has the consequence that when the movement is reversed direction of the barbell the braking of the lazy masses only he follows after the weight passes through the cavity has moved and on the Be facing away from the direction of movement boundary wall of the cavity has arrived. The muscles  and so the wrist of the exerciser hits the unexpected, by slowing down the sluggish Mass caused impulse.

From US 3,617,056 is a dumbbell with a tubular Barbell known, the disc-shaped at its ends Ge weight carries. These are on one by the barbell leading and rotatably mounted in this rotatably mounted shaft arranged. Leave the weights so coupled together put themselves in rapid rotation. As a result, the Han tel rotation of the axis of rotation a high resistance opposite. By suddenly changing the direction of movement but it can lead to nutation or precession movements men who occupy the wrist of the trainee to a high degree burden.

The invention has for its object a muscle training device to indicate that accelerated muscle formation of the biceps and triceps muscles at the same time development of muscle and movement coordination helps.

The task is characterized by the characteristic features of the Claim 1 solved.

Die sonst häu fig zu beobachtende Neigung zur Krampfbildung nimmt ab.The vibrations of the barbell are transferred to the Mus used when lifting and lowering the weight of the barbell areas and stimulate the movement nerves. At the same time, it is much more pronounced There is hypertrophication of the stressed muscles than when training with conventional dumbbells. The otherwise common The tendency to cramp formation to be observed decreases.

Comparisons between traditional training methods and Exercises with the dumbbell according to the invention have shown that the success of conventional training with one up to Allow 80% less time.

Further features, advantages and developments of the invention are the dependent claims and the description and drawing of an exemplary embodiment explained below to take.

The single figure shows a dumbbell 10 in a perspective, partially sectioned illustration. It consists in wesent union of a tubular barbell 12 , on the two ends of which, with the interposition of a ring 14 , dampen the material, e.g. B. made of foamed plastic, a second ring 16 made of a rigid, essentially incompressible material, for example metal. The second rings 16 form the basic weight of the barbell 10 . Disc-shaped additional weights 18 can be placed on the second rings 16 , as is also known from conventional dumbbells.

In the barbell 12 , a motor 20 is rotatably set, the shaft ends 22 protrude from both sides of the housing of the motor 20 . An unbalanced mass 24 is connected in a rotationally fixed manner to each shaft end 22 . Instead of or in addition to the unbalanced masses 24 , the rotor of the motor 20 can also be unbalanced. All imbalances are in phase with each other.

The motor 20 can be supplied with energy via a connection cable, not shown, from the outside, for example from the electricity network of the house. According to an advantageous embodiment of the dumbbell according to the invention, the two th rings 16 are hollow on the inside, and accumulators or batteries 26 are installed in the cavity. In the sense of an advantageous double action, these supply the motor 20 with electrical energy and contribute to the basic weight of the barbell 10 . The motor 20 is adjustable in speed.

If a exercising person lifts the barbell 10 by hand while the motor 20 is running, the muscles mentioned above are tensed. The vibrations caused by the rotating unbalanced masses 24 are transmitted to the muscles. The first rings 14 made of damping material decouple these vibrations from the weights 16 , 18 . The weights do not vibrate, which means that the stability of the system consisting of the barbell weight and the arm of the trainee remains undisturbed. At the same time, the energy consumption of the motor 20 is kept low.

It is also possible to set the barbell 12 in vibration other than by an electric motor. Electromagnetic or piezoelectric vibrators are equally suitable for this.
