Description
Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von Arylphosphinigsäurealkylestern. The invention relates to a method for producing Arylphosphinous acid alkyl esters.
Have arylphosphinous esters, especially diphenylphosphinous esters considerable interest as intermediates for the production of Phosphine oxides. These serve as photoinitiators, for example (EP-PS 0 007 508). The arylphosphinous esters are prepared by Reaction of halogen arylphosphines with alcohols in the presence of tertiary Amines (e.g. EP-PS 0 229 686). The addition of additional at least molar Amounts of ammonia are said to favor the reaction (US Pat. No. 3,057,904). Farther is a process for the preparation of phosphonous esters and Phosphinigsäureestern known in which the neutralization of the resulting Hydrogen halide (especially hydrogen chloride) only with ammonia takes place (US Pat. No. 2,903,475). This procedure is for obvious reasons Particularly interesting because the economic advantages with high yields are easily recognizable. The process is carried out so that the Halophosphane to which alcohol is metered in at about 20 ° C. and at the same time Controlled ammonia is introduced so that the hydrogen halide formed is immediately neutralized with ammonia. The yields in this However, processes are unsatisfactory for phosphinous acid esters. So you get in the implementation of chlorodiethylphosphine with butanol Diethylphosphinigsäurebutylester only in a yield of 21.7% of theory. In addition, this method requires a great deal of control Check the pH value and rate of addition of ammonia.
There was therefore a need to improve this ammonia process so that the desired products in high quality without great technical effort Yield and high purity are formed.
I)This object is achieved by a method for producing Arylphosphinous acid alkyl esters of the formula (I)
worin
R³ (C₁-C₄)-Alkyl
bedeuten, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man Halogenarylphosphane der
Formel (II)wherein
R¹ (C₁-C₁₆) alkyl, cyclohexyl, cyclopentyl, aryl, which can also be substituted by halogen, (C₁-C₆) alkoxy groups
R² aryl, which can also be substituted with halogen, (C₁-C₆) alkyl, (C₁-C₆) alkoxy groups, where R¹ and R² together with the phosphorus atom can also form a ring and
R³ (C₁-C₄) alkyl
mean, characterized in that haloarylphosphines of the formula (II)
worin R¹, R² die oben angeführte Bedeutung besitzen und X für Halogen steht, mit Ammoniak enthaltenden Alkoholen der Formel (III)where R¹, R² have the meaning given above and X represents halogen, with alcohols of the formula (III) containing ammonia
R³OH (III)R³OH (III)
worin R³ die oben genannte Bedeutung besitzt, umsetzt.where R³ has the meaning given above.
The procedure is important e.g. B. for the reaction of compounds of formula (II) wherein aryl is phenyl or substituted phenyl and X is chlorine.
Von besonderem Interesse ist die Reaktion zur Umsetzung von Methyl-phenyl- chlor-phosphan, Methyl-o-phenyl-chlor-phosphan, Methyl-p-tolyl-chlor-phosphan, Methyl-p-methoxyphenyl-chlor-phosphan, Hexyl-phenyl-chlor-phosphan, Octyl- phenyl-chlor-phosphan, Diphenyl-chlor-phosphan, Bis(p-fluorphenyl)-chlor- phosphan, 2,3-Difluorphenyl-phenyl-chlor-phosphan.Of particular interest is the reaction to convert methyl phenyl chlorophosphane, methyl-o-phenylchlorophosphane, methyl-p-tolylchlorophosphane, Methyl p-methoxyphenyl chlorophosphane, hexyl phenyl chlorophosphane, octyl phenyl chlorophosphine, diphenyl chlorophosphane, bis (p-fluorophenyl) chlorine phosphane, 2,3-difluorophenyl-phenyl-chlorophosphane.
Als Alkohole kommen Methanol, Ethanol, Isopropanol oder n-Butanole z. B. in Frage. As alcohols are methanol, ethanol, isopropanol or n-butanols such. B. in Question. Ethanol in particular is preferred. The alcohols should be as free as possible of water. They must be used in excess. This Excess in the ratio of halophosphine: alcohol is 1: 3.5 to 1:20, preferably 1: 4.5 to 1:15 mol. In addition, inert solvents such as. B. Toluene or chlorobenzene can be used.
It has proven itself in many cases to carry out the process so that the Halogen phosphines are metered into solutions of ammonia in the alcohols are, optionally in the presence of inert solvents. The dosing is advantageously carried out at -25 to + 5 ° C, in particular -18 to -5 ° C, preferably -15 down to -10 ° C. The ammonia and halophosphine are in a molar ratio of 1: 1 up to 2: 1, in particular 1.1: 1 to 1.8: 1. After the chlorophosphane has been metered in, it is at room temperature stirred. As an additional measure, the application of vacuum or the passage of inert gases such. B. nitrogen may be useful to ammonia to drive out.
However, it has proven to be a particularly favorable variant of the processing Heating for several hours at temperatures from 60 to 120 ° C, for example proven, whereby ammonia escapes. After about 5 to 20 hours, that's it Emission of ammonia ended. After the aftertreatment is finished Room temperature separated from the ammonium chloride and the filtrate in the usual Worked up by distillation.
XII/1, Seite 213, 1963; US-PS 2 903 475).Surprisingly, the desired end products are obtained in high amounts Yields, although the formation of the R₂P-NH₂ phosphinous amides would have been expected (Houben-Weyl, Methods of Organic Chemistry, Georg Thieme Verlag Stuttgart, Vol. XII / 1, page 213, 1963; U.S. Patent 2,903,475).
XII/1, Seite 150, 1963).In the case of post-treatment at 60 to 120 ° C, it must be surprising that an isomerization reaction is not observed could. It is known that crude phosphinous esters are not thermally are stable and easily isomerize to phosphine oxides at elevated temperature (Houben-Weyl, Methods of Organic Chemistry, Georg Thieme Verlag Stuttgart, Vol. XII / 1, page 150, 1963).
Man erhält 48 g rohes Ammoniumchlorid. Das entspricht einer Ausbeute von 82% der Theorie.330 g (7.17 mol) of absolute ethanol are brought up under a nitrogen atmosphere -15 ° C chilled. To do this at this temperature with constant stirring 26.5 g (1.56 mol) of ammonia gasified. Then be at this Temperature 200 g (0.907 mol) of chloro-diphenylphosphine added dropwise. Then allowed to come to room temperature with stirring and hold then under reflux for 11 hours until hardly any ammonia is emitted. Well now cooled, suction filtered, washed with ethanol and dried. 48 g are obtained crude ammonium chloride. The filtrate is vacuumed by ethanol and possibly existing ammonia freed. The remaining residue is filtered off Minor salt precipitate removed via a glass frit. Then is obtained by thin film distillation at a bath temperature of 160 to 175 ° C and a pressure of 0.5 mbar 170 g diphenylphosphine acid ethyl ester. This corresponds to a yield of 82% of theory.
Das entspricht einer Ausbeute von 94% der Theorie.330 g (7.17 mol) of absolute ethanol are brought up under a nitrogen atmosphere -15 ° C chilled. At this temperature, 18 g (1.06 mol) of ammonia gassed. 200 g (0.907 mol) are then Chlorodiphenylphosphine added dropwise in one hour. Then you leave come to room temperature with stirring and stir for 3.5 hours. Now is cooled, suction filtered and washed with ethanol. The filtrate is in the Vacuum is freed of ethanol and any ammonia present. Of the remaining residue is filtered by filtration through a glass frit minor precipitation freed. Then you get through Thin film distillation at a bath temperature of 140 ° C and 0.3 mbar 172 g Diphenylphosphinous acid ethyl ester. This corresponds to a yield of 83% of the Theory. If the method is carried out such that after the end of the dropping the chloro-diphenylphosphane is brought to room temperature, then Is held at reflux for 12 hours and then after cooling as is worked up earlier, so you get 195 g Diphenylphosphinous acid ethyl ester. This corresponds to a yield of 94% of the Theory.
Man erhält 13 g Ammoniumchlorid. Man erhält 55 g Bis-(4-fluorphenyl)-phosphinigsäureethylester. Das entspricht einer Ausbeute von 83% der Theorie.90 g (1.96 mol) of absolute ethanol are brought up under a nitrogen atmosphere -15 ° C chilled. Now at this temperature, stirring constantly 4.95 g (0.29 mol) of ammonia. Then be at this Temperature 64.1 g (0.25 mol) of bis (4-fluorophenyl) chlorophosphine during Dropped in 50 minutes. Then the mixture is left under stirring Come to room temperature and then refluxes for 12 hours. Then it will be cooled, suction filtered, washed with ethanol and dried. 13 g are obtained Ammonium chloride. The filtrate is freed from ethanol in vacuo and the Residue distilled at 0.45 mbar at a transition temperature of 102 ° C. 55 g of ethyl bis- (4-fluorophenyl) -phosphinate are obtained. Corresponding a yield of 83% of theory.
