Die Dauer einer Ofenreise eines Hochofens für die Herstellung von Roheisen wird begrenzt durch die Haltbarkeit der Ofen-Zustellung, nach deren Verschleiß der Hochofen außer Betrieb genommen und neu zugestellt werden muß. Die Standzeit von Gestell-Zustellungen befriedigte im allgemeinen, und die Haltbarkeit von Bodenauskleidungen wurde durch Kühlung der Ofenböden hinreichend verbessert. Unzureichend ist vor allem die Standzeit von Rast-Zustellungen mit den bekannten feuerfesten Auskleidungsmaterialien.
