Durch das Patent 183295 ist es bekannt geworden, bei optischen Instrumenten aller Art an den Okularen Schutzklappen anzubringen , welche sich, sobald das Instrument ans Auge geführt wird, selbsttätig öffnen, beim Absetzen des Instrumentes jedoch sich sofort selbsttätig wieder schließen und die Okulare gegen Staub, Regen und sonstige Witterungseinflüsse schützen.
