Titandioxidpigment und Verfahren zu dessen Herstellung Titandioxidpigmen t and traverse to its en Her st RECOVERY
The invention relates to a titanium dioxide pigment with high Opacity in emulsion and good film-forming properties and a process for its preparation.
"Improve various coatings on titanium dioxide pigments the hiding power of the pigment in emulsions when made into a paint; however, it happens frequently with high opacity to poor cohesion of the paint, i.e. the Tiber train has a low resistance to Discoloration, poor stain resistance and scrubbability. It is known 'titanium dioxide pigments after firing with various oxide hydrates or hydrous oxides, such as silicon, aluminum or titanium, to provide. "

Patent 1 034 345).It is also known to use the pigment after firing to provide several coatings by treatment with hydrous oxides or oxide hydrates in 2 application stages (British Patent 1,034,345).
On the other hand, it has been found that the order in which various oxide hydrates are applied to titanium dioxide particles be, and the amount of. applied oxide hydrates in each layer for one. Um nun verschiedene Auftragsmengen anA 2.1 kg sample of titanium dioxide was used for each example - produced by oxidation of titanium tetrachloride and Separation from the gas stream with the aid of a cyclone separator containing adsorbed chlorine suspended in 7 l of water. Such a pigment is referred to below as a cyclone discharge. An alkali was added to raise the pH from 3.2 to 7.5 due to the adsorbed chlorine. The mud was then heated to 60 C with good agitation, a sodium aluminate solution with 343 g / l AIpO * within added for 2 h and the pH between 7 and 8 was maintained by adding 50% sulfuric acid. Then the Slurry kept for 1 hour at pH between 7 and 8 and a temperature of 60 ° C and stirred further. The product is now a titanium dioxide pigment completely coated with aluminum oxide hydrate. The titanium dioxide pigments coated according to the invention are explained with reference to the photomicrographs 1 to 3.
Mikrophotographie 1 zeigt ein nach Beispiel 2 hergestelltes Produkt.Microphotograph 1 shows a product made according to Example 2.
Mikrophotographie 2 zeigt ein Vergleichspräparat mit nur einem Überzug aus Aluminiumoxid im Sinne des Beispiels 2.Photomicrograph 2 shows a comparative preparation with only a coating of aluminum oxide in the sense of Example 2.
Microphotograph3 shows a comparative experiment in which there is only a coating of silicon dioxide on the (titanium dioxide pigment is located.
. ■From the photomicrograph 2 it can be seen that the first Layer of alumina hydrate is jagged. As can be seen from the table and the comparison with Example 3, the Painting properties are good with only one aluminum oxide coating, however, such a pigment hardly has better hiding power. Will Now in the sense of the invention (photomicrograph 1) an outer silicon dioxide layer is applied, this is also shown here again a jagged fissured crystalline layer. This can possibly be a reaction product of aluminum oxide and silicon dioxide. However, this has not yet been established. However, it has been shown that a pigment coated in this way differs in its properties namely the opacity, very different from pigments with alumina. . ■
