Kupplungsmuffen zur Verbindung zweier Wellen-, Rohr- usw. Enden, bei welchen, um eine Schwächung der zu verbindenden Wellen oder Röhren durch Keilnuten, Flächenstifte oder Schrauben zu vermeiden, in konische, mit Gewinde versehene Aussparungen konische Bolzen eingeschraubt und so durch ringförmig angeordnete Kammern und Schlitze erzeugte, die innere Bohrung bildende Lappen gegen die Welle gedrückt werden, sind bereits bekannt. Bei dieser verhältnismäßig komplizierten Ausbildung und Anordnung der Kammern und und Schlitzen können derartige Muffen eigentlich nur aus für solche Zwecke wenig geeigneten und zu wenig widerstandsfähigem Gußeisen hergestellt werden. Um diesen Übelstand zu beheben, d. h. um die Muffe aus Schmiedeeisen oder sonst geeignetem Material wesentlich einfacher oder billiger herstellen zu können, wird sie nach vorliegender Erfindung, wie in Fig. 1 im Längsschnitt und in Fig. 2 in Stirnansicht dargestellt, ausgebildet. In der aus einem einfachen länglichen schmiedeeisernen Ring gebildeten Muffe α sind um die zur Aufnahme der Wellen- oder Rohrenden b und c dienende mittlere Bohrung d herum noch mehrere schwach kegelige Aussparungen oder Bohrungen e angeordnet. Diese laufen parallel zur Wellen- oder Rohrachse und stehen mit der Bohrung d durch sich auf die ganze Länge der Bohrungen erstreckende Schlitze/ in Verbindung. Dadurch entstehen im Innern der Muffe federnde Druckbacken g, die durch in die Bohrungen e einzutreibende Keile h gegen die zu kuppelnden Enden gedrückt werden und diese dadurch verbinden. Die Anzahl der Druckbacken g richtet sich hierbei nach der jeweiligen Größe der mittleren Bohrung d.
