welches sich von vornherein in trockenem Zustande befindet, wie Weinstein und getrockneteIn the manufacture of tartaric acid and tartaric acid salts, the residues resulting from winemaking, consisting of tartar, wine yeast, pomace and similar waste, are used as the raw material. The first thing to do is to separate the tartaric acid salts contained in these residues from the impurities that accompany them. At the end, the raw material is treated with water or other suitable liquids, whereby the tartaric acid salts go into solution, but the impurities remain undissolved and now have to be separated from the solution. In whichever way this separation may be made, there is in any case a difficulty which lies in the fact that the accompanying bodies, mainly yeast, mucus and extractives, are difficult to separate because of their slimy nature make divorce impossible in some cases. The present invention aims to eliminate these difficulties and to enable the salts in question to be easily separated from the foreign bodies adhering to them. It consists in the said residues being heated to a temperature of about 140 to 170 ° C. for a shorter or longer period of time before or during their other processing, depending on their nature and the means available. This heating has the effect that the disturbing bodies are partly insoluble and partly converted into forms in which they no longer offer an obstacle to a rapid and arbitrary separation. The separation itself, as described above and as it is in the nature of things, is carried out in a liquid state in which the tartrate salts are in solution, but the impurities are undissolved, suspended. The residues should, if possible, be heated in a dry state, that is, raw material which is in a dry state from the start, such as tartar and dried ones
Yeast should preferably be heated in this state, because this is the most convenient and cheapest way to achieve the goal. For liquid or pasty yeast which has been liquefied by the usual distillation, closed vessels are used, in which the heating is best accomplished by directly introduced steam, if it does not seem permissible to convert it into the dry state beforehand. A temperature of about 140 in open or closed Gefäfsen by directes fire torrid baths, tensioned or superheated steam, at all in any manner Avelche to produce up to 170 0 C. This principles quite generally taken as a guideline, the heating can be done is able to. Which kind of heating is to be chosen in each individual case depends on the possibly present source of heat, and if there is none, on which one is most advantageous to procure. Dry residues can be heated by direct fire, if they are placed in or on furnaces or similar furnaces, the material of the furnace serving as a heat mediator. Heating by direct fire is to be understood in the same sense as the bread in the oven is also heated, that is, baked, by direct fire. The heating by steam in double-walled vessels, by hot baths in similar arrangements, is easily understandable and completely known in other bodies, just as the apparatuses which can serve the purposes mentioned are widely used in industry in a hundred forms.
