Beim Gebrauch des Ausfüllleistens ist außerdem die Stellung des Handgriffes dem Belieben des Benutzers anheimgestellt. Während es bei Stiefeln oder hohen Schuhen kaum hinderlich ist, wenn der Handgriff e nach dem Einführen in den Stiefel hochsteht, ist es bei niedrigen Schuhen unter Umständen unbequem, ja beispielsweise auf der Reise äußerst hinderlich, oder aber z. B. für Schaufenstergebrauch unschön, wenn der Handgriff oben aus dem Schuh heraussteht.
