Bei der Erzeugung von Leucht- oder Heizgasen aus Kohle, Koks usw. wird bekanntlich die Entfernung, des . im Rohgas enthaltenen Schwefelwasserstoffes durch Eisenoxydhydrat bewirkt. Das dabei gebildete Schwefeleisen wird durch Berührung mit Luft in Eisenoxydhydrat zurück verwandelt. In neuerer Zeit wird gewöhnlich zum Zwecke . dieser Regeneration dem Rohgase schon vor Eintritt.in die Reiniger etwas Luft zugesetzt, um die Regeneration der Masse gleichzeitig mit der Entfernung des Schwefelwasserstoffes aus dem Gase vorzunehmen und die Bildung von Schwefeleisen in der Masse zu verhindern. B. indem man die zweckmäßig vorher mittels eines gewöhnlichen Gasmessers gemessene Luft in einen Verdunstungsbehälter leitet, welcher der Parfümierungsflüssigkeit eine große Oberfläche darbietet. Die parfümierte Luft wird dann dem Rohgase vor dem Eintritt desselben in die Reiniger zugemischt.
