Den Gegenstand der Erfindung bildet eine neue Stopfbüchsenpackung der bekannten Art, wobei weicher Dichtungsstoff in Scheibenform zwischen Metallringen durch das Anziehen des Stopfers innen und außen gegen die zu dichtenden Flächen gedrängt wird. Das Wesen der Erfindung besteht nämlich darin, daß in einem oder mehreren Metallringen am' Grunde der Stopfbüchse befestigte Stäbe oder Bolzen durch die Weichdichtungsringe und darüber hinaus in Löcher des oder der oberen, durch den Stopfer zu treibenden Metallringe treten, um diesen zur Führung zu dienen. Dadurch ist eine Relativbewegung der Metallringe in radialem Sinne ausgeschlossen und es wird das achsiale Anziehen der oberen Ringe in günstiger Weise zum Drängen des Weichmetalls nach innen und außen an die zu dichtenden Flächen ausgenutzt.
