Bisher sicherte man Schrauben in nicht durchgehenden Löchern in der Weise, daß man die Schraube am unteren Ende ausbohrte. In diese Bohrung ließ man einen sich verjüngenden Körper einzwängen, der vorher in das Schraubenloch eingebracht war. Durch das Einzwängen sollte das untere Schraubenende auseinandergetrieben und dadurch eine Sicherung der Schraube ίο erzeugt werden, doch war es bisher nicht möglich, eine Schraube in hartem Stoff genügend zu sichern, da dieser der Ausdehnung der Schraube zu großen Widerstand entgegensetzte.
