Das Doubliren der Gewebe in der Längsrichtung gehört mit zu denjenigen Manipulationen, welchen dieselben bei der Bearbeitung zum Schlüsse unterworfen werden, damit sie zu dem Verkauf und zum Zuschneiden handrecht gemacht werden.The doubling of the tissue in the longitudinal direction is one of those manipulations to which they are finally subjected in the processing, so that they can become hand-made for sale and cutting.

Im allgemeinen wirken die bis jetzt bekannten Doublirmaschinen derartig, dafs das Zeug von der horizontal liegenden Hülse in die Höhe geführt wird, durch eine sogenannte Zunge oder Schwert eingeschlagen und schliefslich auf dem weiteren Wege von einer Zug- und Druckwalze vollständig zusammengelegt μηα gezogen wird, wobei zugleich die Kante den nöthigen Druck erhält. Hierbei wird es jedoch dem Arbeiter, weil die ganze Anordnung einen verhältnifsmäfsig grofsen Raum einnimmt, völlig unmöglich, der Waare zu folgen, sie zu beobachten und nach Bedarf helfend anzufassen, was um so nachtheiliger ist, als auch die cylindrischen Walzen das Gewebe auf der ganzen Fläche berühren, wobei sich sehr leicht Kniffe bilden, ohne dafs der Arbeiter das Geringste verbessern könnte, da er seinen Standpunkt, an der Stelle, wo die Waare hochgeht, nicht verlassen kann. Fig. 1 und 2 stellen die Maschine in ihrer Seitenansicht dar, Fig. 3 giebt eine Ansicht gegen die Walzen, Fig. 4 den Hülsenträger (in Fig. 2), von oben gesehen, und Fig. 5 das Führungsstück, welches dem Gewebe zur ersten Faltenbildung dient. Soll die Maschine arbeiten, so wird die Hülse a, Fig. 2, mit der aufgewickelten Waare auf die Axe b gesteckt, nachdem vorher auf derselben zur Verhütung des Herabgleitens die Scheibe c befestigt worden war. Zu diesem Behufe ist die Axe b bei d und e aus ihren Lagern zu nehmen und trägt aufserdem an ihrem unteren Theile, in dem Gewinde verschiebbar, ein vierkantiges, keilförmiges Stück f, auf dem sich die Hülse festklemmen kann. Das lose Ende der Waare wird nun in der durch die Linien χ angegebenen Weise um die Leitwalze / nach der Zunge g, Fig. 1 und 5, geführt, dort leicht gefaltet, alsdann an der Schiene h, Fig. 1, entlang gezogen und schliefslich zwischen die Walzen Z₁ und 4 gebracht, welche das zusammengelegte Zeug kniffen und in dem weiteren Verlauf von der in d und e leicht beweglichen Hülse ziehen.The construction of the new machine, shown in the accompanying drawing, contradicts the earlier principle and eliminates the abuses mentioned. stattfindet, dafs die Waare sich direct vor den Augen des Arbeiters in Falten legt und derselbe etwaige Unordnungen leicht · ausgleichen kann. Die hölzerne Zugwalze I₁ ist aufserdem gegenüber den bisherigen Constructionen nicht glatt profilirt, sondern in ihrer Mitte schwach ausgedreht, damit das zu doublirende Zeug zum gröfsten Theil unberührt durch die Walzen gehen kann und nur die Kniffstelle gedrückt und gezogen wird. Als besondere Eigenthümlichkeiten sind bei vorliegender Maschine noch die verticale Verstellung der Hülse mittelst des Handrades k, Fig. 2, sowie die Entlastungsvorrichtung der Walze Z₁ hervorzuheben. Das erstere dient dazu, die Mitte der in verschiedenen Breiten vorhandenen Waare stets auf die Höhe der Schiene h stellen zu können, damit das Doubliren genau zur Hälfte vor sich gehen kann. Das Handrad k wird zu diesem Zweck gedreht, wodurch sich das Keilstück/ verschiebt und die Hülse, welche auf demselben ruht, mitnimmt. Die Entlastung der Walze Z₁ wird durch das an dem Hebel m hängende Gewicht/ bewirkt, welches durch sein Verschieben, je nach Erfordernifs, den Druck vermehrt oder vermindert. Um dieselbe vollständig anzuheben, was namentlich beim ersten Durchziehen der Waare erforderlich ist, wird der zweiarmige Winkelhebel η um seinen festen Drehpunkt 0 nach unten gedreht, wodurch das Verbindungsstück q die Walze Z₁ nach oben drückt, bis dieses mit dem einen Schenkel von η eine gerade Linie bildet. In dieser Stellung bleibt die Walze stehen und der Arbeiter hat es in seiner Gewalt, dieselbe durch Zurückdrehen des Hebels η wieder herunterzulassen, sobald die Maschine arbeiten soll.takes place so that the goods lay in folds right before the eyes of the worker and he can easily compensate for any disorder. Andererseits machen die bequeme Höhe und der geringe Raum, auf dem der ganze Vorgang stattfindet, es möglich, das Zeug von dem Führungsstück g bis zu den Walzen Z₁ und z₂ mit den Händen zu verfolgen, um etwaigen Unregelmäfsigkeiten beim Doubliren nachzuhelfen. Hervorgehend aus dieser leichten Zugänglichkeit, sind die Leistungen der Maschine gegenüber den Resultaten älterer Systeme um vieles besser, so dafs die ganze gedrängte Anordnung des Hülsenträgers mit den Zugbezw.
