Description
Dieser Stahl besitztChemical technology, the energy industry and the transport sector call for structural steels that combine the high yield strength, also in the heat, with good cold toughness and adequate weldability of cold-formed components 1. The known non-modified structural steels usually do not have this combination of properties. It is true that high strengths and yield strengths can be achieved through a high carbon content or through the addition of alloy elements, as well as through suitable heat treatment, but poor toughness properties and, in any case, welding difficulties are encountered with a higher carbon content. In the case of tempered steels, welding is often more difficult, on the one hand because of the risk to the tempering properties in the heat-affected zone next to the weld seam as a result of an increase in temperature, and on the other hand because of the stress peaks that occur in the weld seam transition zone as the effect of the content of hardenability-increasing elements - the a Quenched and tempered steel needs - train! The same risk of hardening phenomena in the areas adjacent to the weld seam is found with steels that contain a high C content or proportions of certain carbide-forming elements, even when welding normally annealed rolled material. These disadvantages apply in particular to the steel known from US Pat. No. 2,853,379. This steel owns

This steel is said to undergo a heat treatment by cooling it in still air and by quenching and tempering at 650 "C. - This is a nickel-copper-molybdenum steel alloy. It is known that these have high yield strength values in the air-quenched and tempered state. However, an essential component is here The known steel also reaches a yield point of up to 55 kg / mm ' 2 only due to the specified uneconomically high content of Ni. The comparable minimum yield point is 42 kg / mm' 2. The welding properties of this steel are open to criticism because the Welded joint has significantly lower yield strengths than the base material.
In contrast, the invention is based on the object of creating a low-alloy structural steel, which is characterized by high yield strengths, also in the warmth, good toughness in the cold and after cold deformation and is characterized in particular by its perfect welding behavior.

Das macht den Stahl auch unempfindlich gegen Chrom aus legiertem Schrott.is composed and of the normal annealing temperature in the range between 820 and. 950 C with at least 20 "C / min to about 600" C and then cooled in still air to below 200 C and then in the temperature range of 500 to 600 "C, preferably between 540 and 580 C, heated, the holding time at least Must be 20 minutes, but can be several hours. It is possible for the steel to have an additional 0.05 to 0.4 "/" Cr. That makes that Steel is also insensitive to chromium from alloyed scrap.
Das Vorhandensein von Aluminium in den genannten Grenzen unterstützt bekanntlich die Ausbildung feinkörnigen Gefüges,Surprisingly, the steel of the specified composition shows that discussed at the beginning Difficulties in welding not, but rather has the required combination of Properties when subjected to the heat treatment described. A favorable temperature is for the last heating stage between 540 and 580'C, whereby, as mentioned, the Adhesion time at this temperature must be at least 20 minutes, however, if there is processing requires, can be extended to several hours without impairing the properties achieved will. On the contrary, if the toughness requirements are particularly high, it can even be It would be beneficial to prolong the tempering process. As additional advantages over a water or Oil quenching should be mentioned that in the course of the heat treatment of the steel no special ones Investments are required as one can work without a quenching device. Furthermore is advantageous that no significant distortion of the rolling stock occurs. - The alloying elements are in the steel matched so that strength properties like them are achieved with low carbon contents otherwise usually only through the addition of strong special carbide formers, such as titanium, zirconium, Vana- ' dium, niobium, tantalum, boron or any of the above Compensation can be achieved via oil or water blocking. The presence of As is well known, aluminum within the limits mentioned supports the formation of fine-grained structures,

Extending the annealing process to 4 hours only lowers the yield point by about 1 kg / mm 2 ; on the other hand, it brings about a further improvement in the toughness properties.
Die wichtigsten Prüfwerte sind in Tabelle 2 aufgeführt:The combination of steel composition according to the invention and heat treatment results in a material that has high load capacity with excellent Cold toughness and aging resistance are combined. For use at high temperatures it is important that the yield strength drops only slightly up to 400 C. The simultaneous presence the three properties mentioned cold toughness, aging resistance and high temperature strength allows the processor to adapt his working conditions to the technical and economic favorable conditions and gives the user the opportunity to use the structure in the warmth and in the cold. Provided a temperature is used during preheating or stress relief annealing occurs up to the level of the tempering temperature, also has long-term holding at this temperature no adverse effect on the properties. The same applies to warm containers which even high operating temperatures do not impair the properties of the material. If the steel is subjected to a normal normal annealing instead of the one according to the invention Subjected to heat treatment, the properties, in particular, are considerably less favorable does not have good cold toughness and aging resistance. The most important test values are given in Table 2 listed:
