Hehrkopf Form Knitting Machine The invention relates to form-fitting
working multi-head knitting machines with single or double bed structure and concerns
a control device for the knitting width for such machines. In particular
the invention is applicable to knitting machines with several knitting stations that
a single needle bed or two interacting needle beds and each
Have left-hand and right-hand reduction devices assigned to the needle bed,
a control station that has a left-hand lower spindle and a right-hand one
Have minor spindle with respect to the or each row of needle beds, wherein
the lower spindles each with a nut housing movable in the longitudinal direction to them
which is provided with
the respective left-hand and right-hand
Minor devices of the or each row of needle beds are coupled, one each
Reduction spindle assigned ratchet device and one of each ratchet device
associated cover plate device. It can be seen that in the case of a double bed machine
the control station has two pairs of counter-rotating mitigation spindles, of which
the one pair the longitudinal movement of the mitigation devices of the one row of
Needle beds and the other.Pair the longitudinal movement of the reduction devices of the
another series of needle beds controls. In the case of a single bed machine, it is
it is clear that only one pair of reduction spindles is required. A properly working one
Multi-head knitting machine of the type described is characterized according to the invention
in that the ratchet devices and their associated Äbdeckplatteneinrichtungen
are mechanically connected to each other and are operated by means of actuation,
the two bodies are common. Preferably the actuator comprises
a fluid operated jar.

In gleichartiger
Zusatz a vorsehen.
so
58 aufgenommen.According to the invention, each ratchet device further comprises two ratchet wheels which are provided with oppositely arranged teeth for engagement with cooperating ratchet pawls, and each Aeckplatteeinriohtung comprises a cover, which is assigned to each ratchet wheel, means are provided. to control the position of one of the cover plates so that the ratchet device moves the nut housing of a hind spindle either by one needle width or two needle widths, and to control the position of the other cover plate so that the pawl associated therewith remains ineffective during the ratchet action. After # INEM wpiteren Herkm1 the invention! -To the means controlling the positions of the AbdeWWlatten in association with each cover plate solenoid Stoppzittelt which are selectively operable in order to achieve the desired result. The invention is described below, for example, with reference to the drawing; FIG. 1 shows a view of part of a Klehrkopf knitting machine in which the invention is installed, in which the left-hand lower spindle and part of the right-hand lower spindle of the control station and, schematically, one of the knitting stations are shown; for the sake of clarity, certain parts of the control station and the knitting station have been omitted, Figure 2 is a section along line 2-2 of Figure 1, in which certain parts have been omitted for the sake of clarity, Figure 3 is a detailed view on an enlarged scale of the right-hand part FIG. 2, FIG. 4 a schematic view in which the switch boxes are shown which are assigned to the left-hand and right-hand lower spindles in the control station, yigur 5 a partially broken away perspective view of one of the switch boxes shown in FIG. 4 and FIG. 6 an electrical circuit diagram. As shown in the drawing, a flat bed knitting machine comprises a plurality of knitting stations, one of which is shown at 10 , and a control station 11. Each knitting station 10 has front and rear needle beds, one of which is shown at 12. Each of the needle beds are operationally assigned linear and right-hand hinders 13 and left-hand and right-hand knitting width control devices 14. The control device 11 is provided with respect to each row of front or rear needle beds 12 having a pair of coaxial counter-rotating spindles minder. A nut housing 16 is attached to the spindle 15 with left-hand thread for longitudinal movement, which via a control rod 17 with the left-hand reduction device 13 of each knitting station 10 of the series and, via a control rod 18, with the left-hand knitting width control device 14 of each Knitting station 10 is coupled to the series. The right-hand threaded spindle 19 is similarly provided with a nut housing, not shown, attached to it, which is coupled to the right-handed reducer 13 via a control rod 20 and to the right-handed knitting width control device 14 via a control rod 21. In this regard, it should be pointed out that since the right-hand lower spindle 19 and the parts associated with it are a mirror image of those shown in relation to the lower spindle 15 , FIG. 1 only shows the left-hand lower spindle 15 and the parts associated with it. Similarly, it will be understood that, since the machine described has front and rear needle beds, the spindles 15 and 19 and their associated parts are repeated in exactly the same way on the opposite side of the machine, one of which is indicated at 19 ' is. Each lower spindle 15 or 19 has a ratchet device fixedly attached to an extension 30 at one end thereof, comprising two ratchet wheels 23 and 24 which are each provided with oppositely directed circumferential teeth which are arranged so that they act in opposite directions Ratchet pawls 25, 26 are in engagement which are biased into engagement with the teeth and are arranged so that they cause a rotary movement of the spindle spindles 15 or 19 and thus a longitudinal movement of the nut housing 16 attached thereto. A rotary movement of the ratchet wheel 23 thus causes a ratchet movement of the nut housing 16 inwards to produce a narrowing of the wedge, and a rotation movement of the ratchet wheel 24 causes a ratchet movement of the nut housing 16 outwards to produce a widening of the workpiece. To control the action of the ratchet pawls 25 or 26, in order to widen or narrow the block by, for example, one or two needle widths, each ratchet wheel and each pawl is assigned a cover plate 28 (bluff plate) which has a cut-out part 29. The plate is movable to expose the teeth of the ratchet pawl and allow the latter to rotate the ratchet wheel a tooth or two or to disable the pawl. In this regard, it is clear that when the ratchet wheel 24 is operated to widen the workpiece, the other ratchet wheel 23 will remain ineffective due to the fact that the cover plate 28 keeps the ratchet pawl out of engagement with the teeth. Each of the pawls 25, 26 is attached to one end of a stub shaft 31 , which is supported in an Imgeranaatz 32 , which is arranged on an angular support 33 , the W .'- iikeldrehbewegung with respect to the ratchet wheel cooperating with her is attached to the extension 30 . At the other ends of the stub shafts 3il which support the pawls 26 , a connecting member 34 is fastened in each case. These links are hinged to the one at 35 of a Vinkelhebels 36 which is keyed on a Velle 37 mounted in a frame 39 of the machine dm bearing bend is mounted 38th The other ends of the stub shafts 31, which support the pawls 25 in similar wines as the pawls 26 , are provided with connecting members 40 attached to them, which are connected to ver. binding arms 41 are articulated, which are also wedged on the shaft 37. A similar arrangement is provided for the other needle bed of the machine. As shown in Yigur 29 the corresponding parts are in this case with the. Include addition a. The other arms 42 and 42a of the angle levers 36 and 36a are connected to one another by a connecting linkage 43, so that the two devices can be actuated by a single actuating unit 44. According to Yigur 2, the actuating device 44 comprises a double-acting hydraulic shock device 459, the cylinder of which is pivotably articulated on the frame 39 and the piston rod 46 of which is pivotably connected to one end of a double-arm lever 47 which is pivotably attached to the frame 39. The other Einde of the lever 47 is connected to the arm 35a of the angle lever 36a via an actuating rod 48. It can be seen that all pawls 25, 26, 25ag, 26a of the left-hand and right-hand lower spindles 15 and 19 of both needle beds 12 are actuated by a single hydraulic pushing device. The cover plates 28 assigned to each ratchet wheel 25, 26 are each coupled by means of a connecting rod 49 to one axis 50 of a three-armed lever 51 which is rotatably attached to the shaft 37 so that the cover plates can be actuated and moved with respect to the ratchet pawls independently #r are. A second Am 52 of the lever 51 is connected via a linkage 53 to a corresponding He- bel and connected a connecting rod, which each cover plate associated 28a, which is arranged for cooperation with the ratchet wheels of the opposite needle bed. The cover plate linkages 49, 51 are biased by a tension spring 54e which extends between the lever 51 and a bracket 55 attached to the frame 39 , in a direction in which the cover plates 28 are pushed into a fully retracted position and in a direction which is removed from the full ratchet position of the ratchet pawls 25, 26. To produce a ratchet motion, beim.Betrieb the hydraulic pushing means actuated 44 so that it performs a single hub, ie, is moved from the position shown in Figure 2 extended position to the retracted position by the retraction of all ratchet pawls 25, 26 causes will. During this movement, the cover plate rods 499 51 are also allowed to move in a direction towards the fully retracted position of the cover plates 28 under the action of their tension springs 54. The reason for this is that when the ratchet pawl links 36 and 34 or 40 are in their full ratchet position, the cover plate links 49, 51 are normally prevented from moving because they are normally in mechanical engagement with the cane legs 56 which are arranged on the lever 36 of their cooperating ratchet pawl linkage. The extent of the by-feet of the covering plaque bangs 49, 5-1 is controlled by rlOch z, 1 1) esüllreibalide in order to achieve the desired result. If it is desired to ratchet one needle width in one direction, the cover plate 28 of one ratchet wheel of each screw jack is stopped in a position where a tooth is exposed, and the cover plate 28 of the other ratchet wheel of each screw jack is stopped in stopped a position where the ratchet pawls are held out of engagement with the teeth of the cooperating ratchet wheels. During the backward stroke of the pusher 44, ie the ratchet stroke, where the pusher is extended, one ratchet wheel of each lower screw is rotated, the other ratchet wheel being entrained, which rotates in a direction that is opposite to the normal actuation movement that is cooperating with it Ratchet latch is effected. Immediately before the end of the ratchet stroke, the pawl of the other ratchet wheel of each lesser screw engages its cooperating teeth to create a stop that prevents the part of the screw from moving beyond the intended amount of movement. The means for stopping the movement of the cover plates in one of a number of predetermined positions comprise in relation to. on each cover plate linkage 49, 51 stop levers 57, 589 which are pivoted at 5.9 on de-ri bracket 55; and eirizelli of the solenoids 59, 60 actuatable aJ-M1 whose activity can be controlled, for example, by a punched tape or other control means. It will be seen that in operation the ratchet rods 36 wid 74 or 40 are connected to the cover plate linkage rods 49, 51 because they are in engagement by virtue of their bias, and that the ratchet movements are performed by a single pusher 44 in both directions. The advantage of the effective connection between the hatch linkages and the undocking plate linkages is that the use of relatively large solenoids for actuating the cover plates is avoided compared to the solenoids which actuate the stop levers; the cover plate solenoids also tend to burn out due to overheating; consequently, only very light solenoids are used as a means of controlling the amount of movement of the cover plates and not actually moving them. According to FIG. 3 , the stop levers 57, 58 are biased by spring means 60 into a position in which they rest against a stop pin 61 which is attached to the lever 51 cooperating with them in order to limit the extent of the angular movement of the latter. The arrangement is such that each stop lever can be moved into one of two positions by its co-operating solenoid. In the operating position shown in solid line, the lever 57 is arranged so that it prevents any movement of the lever 51 resulting from the movement of the ratchet lever 36 , so that the cooperating cover plate is held in position 11011 and a ratcheting of the associated ratchet is not takes place. In the non-operational position of the lever 57 shown in dashed lines, this is bypassed and the control is taken up by the lever 58 .

Stellung zurückkehren kann. Die Richtung der Ratschen-.;
bewegung

anwendbar ist*In the operating position of the lever 58 shown in solid line, this stops the movement of the lever 51 in the position "Nlll, in which the cover plate is arranged so that it exposes a tooth of the ratchet wheel cooperating with it, so that the ratchet pawl can be actuated In the inoperative position of the lever 58 shown in dash-dotted lines, the lever 58 is bypassed and the control is carried out by a third arm 62 of the lever 51 which stops the movement of the latter by engaging the frame 39 in the position HN211. It can be seen that in this position the cover plate is moved in such a way that a council can be carried out by two needle widths. the ratcheting should take place in the opposite direction, not ratcheting at all. By suitable selection of the positions of the liebel 57t 58 , ratcheting and ratcheting can be carried out in order to meet the requirements. In addition to the normal ratcheting action previously described, the invention further includes means for resetting the nut housings on each spindle after completion of a workpiece. These means comprise two switch boxes 63, 641 which respectively control the front and rear left-hand spindles 15, 15 ' and the front and rear right-hand spindles 19, 19' . The switch boxes 63, 64 are adjusted by the operator in order to achieve the desired knitting width; this width is usually the starting width of a workpiece. The boxes are then locked in position on a supporting indicator rod 65 by means of a locking lever 66. The switch boxes each comprise two switches and a cam 67 which can be rotated to break the circuit of both switches or to close the circuit of one or the other of the switches. The box 63 has the switches s 91 and 8 92 and the box 64 has the switches 8 93 and S 94; the contact is hergestelltl by two pivotally articulated arms 68, 69 in engagement with the akes 67 Video- means of a spring 70 biased the spindle 71 on which the cam is ist2 mounted 67 provided with a downwardly depending switching arm 72, the end of Is fork-shaped in order to engage a projection '13 which is provided on an indicator rod 74 which is fastened to the nut housing 16 of the associated lower screw and is movable therewith. The purpose of the junction boxes 63, 64 is to determine the direction of movement that must take place to return the nut housings to their initial positions. Consequently, at the beginning of a work piece, the switch boxes 639 64 and the nut housings are in the same relative positions where the switch arm 72 assumes a vertical position and the circle of both switches is interrupted. In operation while knitting a workpiece, the nut housing 16 will move relative to the switch boxes 63, 64; the Schaltarx 72 is triggered to complete the circuit of one of the switches. If, upon completion of the workpiece, it is necessary to reset the positions of the nut housings, the actuated switch will close a control circuit which will determine the direction of movement in order to bring the nut housings back in line with the switch boxes. 39 it goes without saying that any relative movement between the switch boxes and the elutterugehäugen where they pass each other, be it during normal operation of the machine or be it due to movement caused by the operator, will actuate the switch boxes will. When resetting, the respective ratchet device - so that it has a continuous ratchet movement, iusf'ülir ' bi.- the actuators of the hooker housing become the Stellun-Gei. the switch box, whereupon the activity of the council facility is stopped. In this regard, the ratcheting action on one or both spindles is continued until both nut housings are in their correct positions. The extent of the ratchet movement of the two cap housings therefore need not be symmetrical. It goes without saying that the resetting means are built into the machine which uses the normal ratchet devices; be no additional equipment required As already mentioned, the activities of the ratchet means controlled by a paper tape but & FOr RÜchstelleinrichtung is preferably egg, .le sepa- control circuit provided by H -. ild #.. o (Jer you "rI #. designed so that the control of the machine is carried out again from the strip when a reset activity is completed. With regard to the ratchet action, it will be seen that although the cover plates are operated individually in so far as their amount of movement is controlled by their respective stop levers, the ratchet pawls of all the ratchet wheels together under the action of the hydraulic jar. are operated regardless of whether a ratchet inward or outward action is to be carried out. If the shape of the workpiece is such that the activity of the ratchet devices is repeated, the stop means assigned to the respective cover plates can also be selected permanently for a predetermined number of operations or they can be switched off and set again for each activity. From Figure 6, which shows the electrical circuitry relating to a machine capable of expanding one needle width (solenoids 991), one needle width narrowing (solenoids 59), or two needle widths narrowing (solenoids 60) is it can be seen that the spindle ratchet pushing device 44 is retracted for the ratchet movement of the lower spindles and can then return to its extended position. The direction of the ratchet .; movement and the ratchet extent is determined by the selection, which is carried out by a control unit, which can be a punched tape and controls the operation of the entire Vi machine. The respective ratchet direction solenoids 59, 59 ' or 60 are consequently energized by the control unit via relays R 84 and R 85. Relay R 93 is energized by R 86 (which is a signal from the control unit) and is activated by switch B 96 and kept the IllIalte11 contact R 9311 energized. The spindle ratchet valve solenoid 75 (see Figure 2) is energized via R 93/2 which causes the ratchet pusher 44 to retract. When the ratchet pusher 44 is fully retracted, the receptacle S 96 (located on the operating rod 48) is actuated and the relay R 93 is de-energized, allowing the ratchet pusher to return to its extended position. The ratchet movement of the Ninder screws is effected after this sequence has ended. In order to allow the nut housings to quickly return to their switching positions in the correct direction when a workpiece is completed, the ratchet device carries out a continuous ratchet action. To do this a ', the corresponding direction solenoid 59, 59' or 60 must also be excited, the direction is determined by the switches (8 91a, i. S 92a, 8 93a and 8 94a) in the switch boxes 63, 64, which are preloaded by the direction in which the spindles were previously ratcheted. The relay R 76 is consequently energized either by a pulse signal from the control unit R 75 or by a manually operated push button S 90 . R 76 and/
is kept excited by R 76/1 / or by any or
several of the switches S 91b9 8 92b, S 93b and 8 94b. The other pole of this switch 8 glag 8 92ag S 93a and S 94a is used to indicate the direction * of the spindle ratchet movement. ii-nn relay R 76 is energized, R 76/21 R 76/39 R 76/4 and R 76/5 enable the switches in switch boxes 63, 64 to become effective. By energization of the relay R 76 also contacts R are closed 76/6, whereby the relay R 93 is energized and in turn excites the Schraubenratschenventilsolenoid 75 through the contacts R 93/2; the ratchet pusher 44 is withdrawn. When the ratchet pusher has left its extended position, the switch 8 is 82, the Spindelratschenventilsolenoid 75 remains open but energized because the switch B 96 and the contact R 9311. When the spindle ratchet pusher has reached its fully extended position, the switch 8 96 which opens Relay R 93 and consequently also the spindle ratchet valve solenoid 75 de-energizes, whereby the spindle ratchet pushing device 44 can return to its extended position, but contrary to the case just described as soon as rie reaches its extended position, the switch 8 82 closes and in turn energizes the relay R 931 and the spindle ratchet pushing device 44 is again withdrawn. In this way, the spindle ratchet pushing device 444 performs a self-oscillation until both switch boxes 639 61 have returned to their neutral positions. When both switch boxes 63, 64 have returned to their neutral positions, the relay R 76 is de-energized and the spindle direction solenoid circuits 59, 59 ' or 60 are switched to the control unit. By using hydraulic energy to operate the lower bolts, it is clear that the invention provides the advantage that they can be operated independently of the rest of the machine and, for example, operated when the machine is stationary. The mechanical connection of the ratchet devices and the cover plates also makes it impossible for the front spindles and the rear spindles to get out of phase with one another. With reference to the operation of the stop levers 57, 58 it can be seen that in order to be able to move the cover plate lever 51 into the "N2" position, it is not necessary to move both stop levers 57, 58 into an inoperative position, where they are bypassed by the lever 51 . This can of course be accomplished by designing the electrical circuit so that both solenoids 59, 6 # O are operated simultaneously. It is preferred, however, to provide a mechanical connection between levers 57 and 58 to accommodate this possibility. Each lever 58 is thus provided at a position between the pivot point 59 and a point corresponding to the right end of the lever 57; a hook-shaped part is arranged in such a way that it hooks over the lever 57. A movement of the lever 58 into a non-operating position consequently causes a similar movement of the lever 57, so that both levers do not come into engagement with the stop pin 61 on the lever 51. Although the invention has been described in relation to a double bed machine, it will be understood that by omitting the connecting rods on one side of the machine and the connecting links 43 and 53, the invention can also be applied to a single bed machine *
