KAISERLICHESIMPERIAL
PATENTAMT.PATENT OFFICE.
W. v. Miller and Plöchl have shown (Reports 25, p. 2020) that the so-called Ship bases when treated with anhydrous or concentrated hydrocyanic acid in Nitriles pass over (see also Reports VI, p. 748 and Reports XI, p. 246). The attachment was carried out either with cooling or at ordinary temperature. Because of the associated with the use of concentrated hydrogen cyanide Inconveniences and dangers, this procedure has not introduce itself into the technology can.
So istThere has of course been no lack of attempts, in the above procedure the absolute ones respectively replace concentrated hydrocyanic acid with dilute aqueous hydrocyanic acid, but these efforts have so far not produced any practical success. So is
Hydrocyanic acid to the anhydroformaldehyde aniline in dilute aqueous Solution takes place only in unsatisfactory yield. It is shown there, however been that with a suitable choice of the test conditions, d. H. with careful Bringing the components together and then shaking the reaction mixture in the shaker for several days, the Yield could improve somewhat, but here too the reaction always took z. T. one another course and it was only up to 50 percent of the theory of lo-cyanomethylanilm obtain. Patent 145062 (p. 2, column 2, last paragraph) also expressly states that that a complete conversion of the Schiff base from p-phenylenediamine and formaldehyde into the corresponding nitrile even when using 18 percent hydrocyanic acid the complete insolubility of the starting material stand in the way, and therefore two detours are given there, to enable a perfect implementation.
Also v. Miller and Plöchl (1. c. P. 2047) have tried to obtain from polymolecular valerylideneaniline to obtain the nitrile by aqueous hydrocyanic acid, but the reaction failed because a different body was formed, which does not change into the desired one even through further exposure to absolute hydrogen cyanide Nitrile transferred. The authors mentioned that there is no nitrile formation interpreted that the diluted hydrocyanic acid is not capable of the double molecule of the polymolecular To cleave valerylidene aniline.
For the SchifF's bases obtainable from aromatic aldehydes and amines in the literature, especially in the above-cited paper by v. Miller and Plöchl, none the only indication that an aqueous hydrocyanic acid was used; in all cases (1. c. P. 2052, 2054, 2055, 2056, 2057) came rather an "anhydrous" or "approximately anhydrous hydrocyanic acid for use and, moreover, in a very significant (8-fold) excess.
Es wurde nun gefunden, daß nicht alleinIt has now been found that not alone
die aus aromatischen Amidoverbindungen und aliphatischen Aldehyden in äquimolekularem Verhältnis entstehenden polymolekularen Kondensationsprodukte (auch das polymolekulare Valerylidenanilin), sondern ebenso die aus aromatischen Aminen und aromatischen Aldehyden erhältlichen Schiff'schen Basen sich sämtlich glatt und leicht in die entsprechenden Nitrile verwandeln lassen, wenn manthat of aromatic amido compounds and aliphatic aldehydes in equimolecular form Ratio resulting polymolecular condensation products (also the polymolecular Valerylidene aniline), but also those from aromatic amines and aromatic aldehydes Available Schiff's bases are all smooth and easy in the corresponding Let nitriles transform if you can
For the different Schiff bases is not always the most favorable temperature for nitrile formation the same; sometimes warming up on the water bath is enough, while in others In cases it is advisable to use a slightly higher temperature. To an evaporation To avoid hydrocyanic acid, it is advisable to work in a closed vessel. It is advisable to ensure an intimate mixture by stirring; it suffices the usual stirred kettles for this.
This result, i. H. the direct and complete transfer of all named ships Bases in nitriles by dilute aqueous hydrocyanic acid, according to the literature cited above, was in no way possible to foresee.
Preparation of lu-cyanomethylaniline. A solution of 70 parts by weight is poured into a pressure vessel equipped with a stirrer Potassium cyanide (95 percent) in 200 parts of water and 300 parts of ice gradually added to the calculated amount of hydrochloric acid; in the thus obtained aqueous, about 5 percent Hydrocyanic acid solution is then used as finely ground 110 parts of anhydroformaldehyde aniline Powder entered.
The mixture is then initially stirred at normal temperature until a uniform paste has formed is and then heated in a closed vessel for two hours in a boiling water bath. After cooling, leaves the solidified nitrile can easily be filtered off from the aqueous solution.
Ähnlich läuft die Reaktion bei Äthylidenanilin. The reaction is similar with ethylidene aniline.
Darstellung von Phenylanilidoacetonitril. Preparation of phenylanilidoacetonitrile.
