In
Lathes Feeding Device The invention relates to improvements in a feed C) for use on a lathe. To achieve the longitudinal movement of a "tool slide on a lathe, it has been customary to use two transmission systems. One of the transmission systems was used to carry out the normal cutting process and had a rotatable spiral spiral, a gear train that was located within a gear housing, and a Pinion that meshed with a rack that was attached to the bed of the lathe, whereby the gear housing was moved by the tickle that was in engagement with the rack and was set in rotation via the gear train by the tension spindle. The other transmission system was used for Through leading-vcn thread-cutting operations and had a rotating screw spindle, the so-called lead screw, as well as a half nut which was to be brought into engagement with the lead screw and was driven by this in order to move the gear housing in turn. These two transmission systems could be operated optionally, by sheathing a He gels within a gear box, which allowed a Umschalunder lathe from normal cutting operation to any threading operation and vice versa, with a lever being provided within the gear housing to bring the half nut into engagement, as well as a lever for disengaging. of the feed.
If, on the other hand, the half-nut was to be advanced by hand by turning a handwheel on the gearbox housing, a great deal of force would have been required, since the amount of force transmitted to the half-nut by the time spindle, strangely enough, is not more than about 30% of that transmitted by aie The time spindle supplied. As described above, this would result in reduced accuracy, which would make a manual rotation of the handle on the gearbox housing impracticable. For this reason, a very effective combination of a rack and pinion was usually used, Therefore, the conventional type of feeder for use in lathes necessarily has two types of transmission systems as just shown, and therefore has a complicated structure.
The main aim of the invention is accordingly to create a new and improved feeder device for lathes which is simple in its construction and easy to handle, in that the above-mentioned disadvantages are avoided by avoiding a rack and pinion drive, which was previously used for the advance movement of the slide. This is done according to the invention essentially in that a recirculating ball nut is provided which is continuously engaged with the lead screw, instead of a half nut, as was previously used for thread cutting operations, and that the recirculating ball nut is rotatable to bring about a feed of the slide in the longitudinal direction, the is suitable for a normal cutting process as well as for any thread cutting process.
Yet another object of the invention is to provide an extremely high transmission efficiency, under which a driving force is transmitted from the time spindle to the nut cooperating with it, in order to enable a manually controlled longitudinal feed with little expenditure of force. According to an exemplary embodiment of the invention, the nut, which is always in contact with the idle time spindle, has a disengaging device that works together with the tension spindle (or a switching device, with at least three operating positions, namely a first position corresponding to the longitudinal feed for a normal cream filling device g, a second position, in which the face feed is switched on for the normal cutting process, and a third position for a thread cutting process) and a handwheel. Usually the Ausrüokeinrichtung is connected to the feed spindle via a speed changing device.

In particular, in Figure 1, 1 generally denotes a gear housing, which represents an essential part of the bed slide, -with 2wuüd 3 housing parts, for example made of cast, and with 4 a .Wrontcover the housing part 3. On the rear and left side according to Figure 1 of the housing part 2, this has a projection 5 formed in one piece with it. The expressions "-Wrder-" and 91_inter- "or" rearward "used in the description mean to or In variant 5, a bevel gear 6 with a hub 7 is rotatably mounted by means of a pair of conical roller bearings 8 and 8 'and is secured against axial movements by a lock nut 9. The bevel gear 6 is shared with the tension spindle 10, which is controlled by a feed change gear box ( not shown), rotatable and displaceable together with the entire gear housing of the slide along the tension spindle The embodiment shown is connected to the tension spindle 10 via a feather key 11 which is fastened on the one hand in the bevel gear and on the other hand is inserted into a corresponding groove 12 which extends along the tension spindle 10.
(see FIG. 2) and which is rotatably mounted in the housing parts 2 and 3 by means of two ball bearings 15 and 158.
Portion 29 which is 30-30t'gelagert in a divided seat, which is fixed inside the cylindrical cover 27th As you can see-e. Lich, the spherical section 29 and the seated 30-30 'form a ball joint. The composite gears 16-17 and 18-19, the speed change lever 26 and the associated parts described above are of conventional design.
two opposing pivot arms 44 and 44 'carried. The last-mentioned arm 441 and a toothed segment 45, which is attached to the arm 44 ', are mounted on the shaft 31 by means of two arms 46 and 46' in such a way that they can rotate independently of the rotational movement of the shaft 31. In order to be able to pivot the two pivot arms 44 and 44 ', the toothed segment 45 is permanently in engagement with a gear 47, to which a shaft 48 is connected, which in turn extends loosely through a hollow shaft 49 (see FIG. 6) and over which Front cover 4 protrudes. The hollow shaft 49 is provided with a radial projection 5a (see FIG. 1) along the part that is located inside the cover 4, and a lock ring 51 is attached to the free area of the shaft 48, for example with a rass spring.
The letter '' h``1 extends in mirror writing in the cylindrical abdeok hood 56 (Figure 8). In addition, the ring 54 has a radial projection 59 with a round end, which is diametrically opposite the actuating lever 57 and is received by a guide slot 60 in the cylindrical cover 56 in such a way that it can only move in the tangential direction. On the other hand, as can be seen from FIGS. 6 and 9, a locking arm 61, the free end of which has a V-shaped recess 62, is connected to the shaft 48 at its inner end in such a way that it rotates together with the gear 47. A locking bolt 63 is provided on the housing 2-3 which, under the influence of a compression spring 65 located in a suitable fixed shaft 64, strives to have the V-shaped recess 62 at the free end of the locking arm 61 The locking arm 61, together with the locking bolt 63 and the spring 65, forms a locking device for the optional positioning of the shaft 48. On the protrusion 50 of the hollow shaft 49 shown in FIGS. 1, 6 and 9, there is a coupling member 66 at 67 articulated, the other end of which is articulated at 68 to an arm 69 which is attached to one end of a transverse shaft 70 shown in Figures 1, 9 and 10. In this way, as is easy to see, a rotational movement of the carbon shaft 49 communicated in one or the other direction of the shaft 70, which is also rotated via the coupling member in one or the other direction.. The shaft 70 is arranged parallel to the shafts 14 and 31 and
can be in order to bring the shaft 81 with this gear in or out of connection. Furthermore, the shaft 81 carries at its front end a gear 85 which is continuously in engagement with a gear 86 which in turn is directly connected to the shaft 87 of a handwheel 88 (see FIG. 3). A gearwheel 89 is also mounted on the spline 81 by means of a bearing 90 so that it can rotate independently of the shaft 81. The wheel 89 meshes with the wheel 71. Furthermore, there is a coupling part 91 on the shaft 81, which rotates with the trowel and is axially displaceable on it by the displacement claw 73. The coupling part 91 is provided with coupling teeth 92 which can engage or disengage with coupling teeth 93 on the gear wheel 89. As shown in Figure 1, the housing part 2 has on its rear and right side a further projection 94 in a higher plane than that of the projection 5 described earlier 95, which can rotate without ..- any acial play with respect to the lead screw 99 with which it is in engagement. It
is constantly engaged with the aforementioned bevel gear 83. The nut 95 and the normally fixed time spindle 99 form a so-called non-rotating ball drive. For this purpose, the lead screw 99 is provided with a spiral ball channel which is connected to a recirculating ball channel 1Q2 inside the nut 95, with a large number of small balls 103 in both channels. The construction described so far is on the side of the gear housing of the bed slide The construction on the side of the saddle from which the gear housing protrudes downwards is now described below which in turn is directly connected to a gear 107. The gear 107 is arranged within the saddle 104 in such a position that it can be brought into or out of engagement with the gear 39 by pivoting the pivot arms 44 and 441. The plan feed described so far can be implemented in a conventional manner. The device described so far works as follows:
However, in addition to its neutral position, the speed change lever 24 shown in FIGS. 3 to 5 can optionally assume 4 positions I, II, III and IV (see FIG the speed change lever 24 is in its position I, the gear 16 meshes with the gear 33; while the lever is in its position II, the gear 19 is in engagement with the gear 37, the lever 24 is in.
the lever is in position IV, the gears 17 and 35 are in mesh. In view of the different diameters of these gears, which can be seen from FIG. 1, it is easy to see that the rotational speed of the splined shaft 31 increases when the speed change lever 24 is successively moved from position I to position IV. When the lever 24 is in a certain one of the positions I to IV, the rotation of the splined shaft 31 causes the gears 34, 38 and 39, which are in sequence with one another to rotate, as well as the gears 37, 71 and 89 ( see Figures 1 and 2). It should be noted, however, that the rotational movement of the gear wheel 89, provided that it is in its position shown in FIG. 1, is not yet communicated to the splined shaft 81. If now the longitudinal feed is to be switched on, it is only necessary to move the actuating lever 57 (see FIGS. 6 to 8) into its position A shown in FIG. This will
In this case, the probe device 61 - 65 serves to keep the gear 39 in engagement with the gear 107. For the purpose of thread cutting, the actuating lever 57 can be moved from its position A - corresponding to the longitudinal feed or from its position B corresponding to longitudinal feed into its thread cutting position or its neutral position on the line N (FIG. 8). The slots 53 on the counter ring 51 are aligned with the hole slots 52 on the hollow shaft 49, and the swing arms 44 and 44 ″ hold the gear 39 in its neutral position Jung, where (? S neither with the gear 84 nor with the gear 107 When the actuating lever 57 is swiveled around the center of its spherical end 59 towards the gear housing under these circumstances, the pins 55 pass from the slots 53 into the behlitze 52 of the idler shaft 49. The actuating lever 57 then moves in a counter-clockwise direction 8 until it reaches its position U. In doing so, only the hollow shaft 49 is rotated in the counterclockwise direction, causing the coupling member 66 to be pulled counterclockwise to direction 9, and this rotary movement of the shaft 70 leads to the displacement of the hub of the versehiebeklaue 73 forward, in that the pin 74- along the curve tz 75 slides. As a result, the clutch teeth 92 come into engagement with the clutch teeth 93. For this reason, a rotary movement of the splined shaft 31 is now transmitted from the gear 37 via the gear 71 to the smaller gear 89, whereby the rotational speed is increased, and from there via the clutch 93-91 and the bevel gears 83 and 100 on the recirculating ball nut 95. Therefore, the nut 95 is rotated around the stationary time spindle 99 in order to move the gear housing at a higher speed than that with face feed, whereby a thread can now be cut. The sliding claw 73 is fixed in each of its two possible positions, as previously described, by a latching device, which is indicated in FIG. 11 by 76 to 80. From the preceding description it emerges) that the invention creates a new type of feed device for mechanical lathes which works with a time spindle and a recirculating ball nut which is always in engagement therewith. The invention therefore overcomes the need to provide both a conventional rack and pinion drive for the longitudinal feed and the conventional half nut to be brought into or out of engagement with the time spindle. In the foregoing, the invention was illustrated and explained using a preferred exemplary embodiment. It goes without saying, however, that various changes can be made to this in structural details and in the overall structure without deviating from the concept of the invention.
