Der Zusammendruck von -mehreren Farben in nassem Zustande ohne Einschaltung von Trockenstadien ist schon vielfach für Akzidenzen und für minderklassische Darstelhingen, Spielkarten, Landkarten usw. angewendet worden. Dagegen versagt derselbe beim Zusammendruck größerer Flächen, wie sie bei Reproduktionen von Bildern vorkommen, wie dies schon in Waldows Encyclopädie der Graphischen Künste, Seite 708, richtig bemerkt ist. Als Ursache hiervon wird daselbst angegeben, daß der ersteDruck immer, weil er noch naß ist, bei dem zweiten Druck an die Form Farbe abgibt, so daß der Zusammendruck nach einigen hundert Abdrücken einen ganz anderen Ton zeigt als der Andruck. Also die gegenseitigen Abklatschflächen zwischen der Farbe auf dem Papier und der Farbe auf der nächstfolgenden Druckform, die beim Mehrfarbendruck mit eingelegten Trockenstadien gar nicht vorhanden sind,, sondern erst beim nassen Zusammendruck entstehen, und die, von der Druckform abgesehen, mittels der Auftragwalzen die Farbwerke selbst verschmutzen, sind die Ursache, warum ein Zusammendruck von Bildern in nassem Zustande bisher nicht möglich war.
