Description
KAISERLICHESIMPERIAL
PATENTAMT.PATENT OFFICE.
The slag that falls during tin production can almost always be removed from the strong mineral acids: completely decompose hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid and nitric acid, such that. the silica is separated from the bases, especially the oxides of tin.
To obtain the tin in this way, it is converted into the water-soluble Strive for state; it can therefore use nitric acid for this purpose in the first place out of the question as they convert the entire tin content into water-insoluble stannic acid convicted. Only sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid appear to be technically advantageous. The use of sulfuric acid for treatment the tin slag is already indicated in patent specification 96198. It is meanwhile As numerous experiments have shown, it is impossible to determine the total tin content of the. Obtaining slag with sulfuric acid alone, because here a considerable part of the same precipitates in the form of water-insoluble stannic acid. As is well known, can be omitted Tin salt solutions by sulfuric acid as well as by sodium sulfate, especially with Boiling stannic acid separates it, and it is on this fact that the imperfect is based Dissolving the tin content of the slag by means of sulfuric acid alone, if the digestion, d. H. the elimination of silica is complete.
The tin content of the slag lets through the fastest and most perfect bring into solution so that even a quantitative determination is possible in this way. For technical recovery alone On the other hand, hydrochloric acid has the great disadvantage of this slag digestion, that a very considerable part of the silica brought to the deposition goes into solution with it, thereby further processing the alkali obtained on tin is extremely difficult.
According to the inventor, the present method now avoids all of these difficulties in that - that a mixture of sulfuric acid with hydrochloric acid as a digestion and solvents are used. Numerous tests have shown that a sulfuric acid-hydrochloric acid mixture in an approximate ratio of 2 parts sulfuric acid to 1 part hydrochloric acid able to keep the entire tin content of the slag in solution, even when it is strong Dilution with water. An increased hydrochloric acid content of the acid mixture affects the Solubility favorable, but has the disadvantage that the dissolved silica content in the Lye is increased considerably, while with the above ratios the solubility of the silica remains within narrow limits. Furthermore, the following embodiment has this Procedure as very expedient and advantageous
haft erwiesen, indem man dadurch von jeder äußeren Wärmezufuhr des Gemisches unabhängig bleibt.has been proven to be independent of any external heat input to the mixture remain.
The finely powdered slag, e.g. iookg, are first placed in a suitable container with two to three times the amount of water stirred intimately, whereupon about 50 1 hydrochloric acid and then immediately 100 1 concentrated sulfur, acid can be added while stirring vigorously. As a result of the heat of reaction increases the temperature of the mixture rapidly to near the boiling point of the water, with precipitation the gelatinous silica. The mixture is now left to stand for a while itself, during which the chemical decomposition of the slag particles is completed. The length of time depends the degree of fineness of the slag grinding. The mass is then diluted with water, the lye is squeezed through a suitable filter, clarified and ready for further processing Treated on tin according to a proven process. The same result can be achieved if an aqueous solution of sodium bisulfate is used in place of sulfuric acid, such as cited in patent 123764; only in this case there is an external supply of heat necessary.
There is another embodiment of the method described above in that one uses those compounds in place of hydrochloric acid which, such. B. the table salt, which is especially suitable for this, in the presence of sulfuric acid, Let hydrochloric acid be released. It is used instead of the sulfuric acid-hydrochloric acid mixture a sulfuric acid-common salt mixture by z. B. the slag mixed with table salt and the mixture is treated with sulfuric acid, so through the double reaction formed between the sulfuric acid and the common salts sodium bisulphate and hydrochloric acid, both of which were previously mentioned Have an effect on the slag; In addition, the process comes from this implementation the heat generated is beneficial. You can use the amount of sulfuric acid dimensioned so that only sodium bisulphate and hydrochloric acid are produced by the reaction, or else the sulfuric acid is used in excess, see above. that besides that Sodium bisulfate and hydrochloric acid can also have sulfuric acid.
