Description
.It is known that organic phosphate-containing fertilizers can be produced by digested sludge or mixes silt with rock phosphates and the resulting mass dries and crushes (Swiss Patent 124 143). Similar fertilizers have already been obtained by simply making Sewage sludge mixed with rock phosphates, peat and lignite and this mixture at 70 to 80 ° C subjected to a fermentation process (German patent 740 335). .
Der dabei entstehende Filterrückstand hat einen Trockengehalt von etwa 10%.When extracting fertilizers from sewage sludge, the separation of the is partly colloidal present solids in the mixture a significant technical problem. Known method of doing this through Flocculation with the help of z. B. to carry out aluminum silicates are unsatisfactory because they add to the product add a substance that cannot be used as a fertilizer. In French patent specification 918 768 a method will now be described in which sewage sewage sludge treated with air prior to separation a very finely divided natural phosphate is added. The resulting filter residue has a dry content of around 10%.
The present invention now relates to a method for the production of fertilizers from sewage sludge by flocculation with finely divided phosphates, such as Thomas phosphate or rock phosphate flour, and separation of the precipitate obtained, which is characterized by daft that from fresh or digested sewage sludge using a centrifuge, preferably a decanter centrifuge, separated filtrate at elevated temperature and preferably under pressure intimately mixed with the phosphates with slow stirring and by means of a rotary filter, preferably a suction cell rotary filter, separated precipitate in a known manner on its own or in a mixture with the preferably crushed centrifuge residue and possibly other plant nutrients, Pesticides, growth substances and / or binders to powder, granules or the like. Further processed will.
The amount of phosphates used can be reduced that the filtrate at a Mixture with the phosphates at a temperature between 35 and 150 ° C and at a pressure of up to about 4 atm will. The solids in the filtrate separate to a much greater extent and at the same time to a lesser extent Use of phosphates in the form of a coarsely dispersed, easily filterable sludge. So can in the cheapest In case of increased temperature and pressure, about 4 atmospheres, the consumption of phosphate up to 0.5 g per gram of solid can be reduced, e.g. B. when the filtrate about a quarter of an hour at 150 ° C is heated. For the pressure treatment, an ordinary, optionally acid-resistant, brick-lined one is sufficient or enamelled pressure vessel. A stainless steel container is not required.
A certain improvement in the precipitability is also possible if the phosphates used are with Exception of Thomas flour together with alkaline calcium compounds, preferably calcium oxide, be used.
Verhältnis variiert werden, und zwar einmal dadurch,By the invention effected by means of a centrifuge separation of the solids and the treatment of a z. B. Thomas flour-containing sewage sludge filtrate, the flocculated sludge settles relatively quickly in the pressure vessel and is easy to filter. During the subsequent filtration on a suction cell filter or separation by means of centrifuges, the water content in the remaining filter cake drops to less than 20%.
While with an addition of z. B. Thomas flour directly to the sewage sludge, the ratio of the inorganic substance to the solid remains constant, this ratio can be varied by the method according to the invention, once by
ίο that the solids content in the filtrate by appropriate Setting the centrifuge, or by adding the centrifuge residue accordingly Add the desired proportion of solids to the suction cell filter residue.
Diese Zentrifugenrückstände könnenIn the procedure according to the invention, the classifying effect of the centrifuge can also be used, d. H. separate the coarse matter and crush them if necessary. These centrifuge residues can
B. zusammen mit Müll, kompostieren.ao either mixed with the rotary filter residue and further processed, which results in the content the end product can increase in organic matter, or you can also, z. B. together with garbage, compost.
The removal of the coarse material also makes filtration on the rotary filter much easier: The Even without an auxiliary filter layer, the filter cake is so even and compact that it can be removed with cords can easily peel off.
The pressure treatment carried out in the autoclave can also be carried out with non-centrifuged original sewage sludge. However, this procedure is not advisable because of the higher Thomas meal and energy expenditure compared to the procedure described above. By working at an elevated temperature, on the one hand, the ratio of phosphate to organic components in the fertilizer can be kept within favorable ranges, namely from 0.5 to about 4 g of phosphate per gram of organic solid. On the other hand, it is very advantageous that if the sludge filtrate is heated to above 70.degree. C., any harmful bacteria that may still be present are killed.
A method is already known in which the sludge is subjected to heat conditioning, namely in an autoclave under pressure at around 200 ° C. The sludge cooked in this way should be easy to filter, and the subsequent treatment in a chamber filter press at around 13 atmospheres lead to a dewatering of the sludge down to 40% water. The resulting filtrate has a brownish color, which suggests that part of the organic substance has dissolved or is still contained in the filtrate in an extremely fine suspension.
In contrast, when phosphates are added to the centrifuge filtrate, the temperature is increased and if necessary under pressure a much more extensive drainage with less Energy expenditure.
The method according to the present invention enables thus a significant technical advance compared to the known state of the art. It was not to be expected from the outset that, despite the sharp reduction in the amount of phosphate added and at significantly milder temperature and pressure conditions than those of the known prior art Technology, a significantly improved fiI-
trierfähigkeit und damit Filterleistung erreichen könnte.trier ability and thus could achieve filter performance.
According to the invention, both fresh and already digested sewage sludge can be treated. In both cases, what can be seen as a further advantage is an odorless and sterile end product.
The inventive heat treatment and optionally pressure treatment of the phosphate-containing sludge filtrate can by heat exchangers, the z. B. serve to preheat the filtrate to be treated can be made more economical.
In the method according to the invention you can, for. B. the residue from the rotary filter, which may be with the residue from the centrifuge and / or other plant nutrients and / or active ingredients is mixed, add a binder before molding and dry if necessary. Furthermore it is Also possible, instead of granules, are powdery or amorphous end products or those with peat-like ao to produce a good character.
A filtrate of digested sewage sludge containing 2% solids and coming from a decanter centrifuge is heated to 40 ° C. and 7% by weight Thomas meal is added with slow stirring. After stirring for about 12 minutes, the filtrate is filtered off using a suction cell filter. The filterability is so good that the water content in the sludge cake remaining on the filter can be reduced to 23% water with a filter performance of 320 m 3 / h.
3535
A sludge filtrate containing 3% solids and 5% Thomas flour is heated to 80 ° C. for a quarter of an hour and then filtered again as described in Example 1. The cake remaining on the filter contains only 20% water with a filter capacity of 370 m 3 / h.

A centrifuge sludge filtrate containing 3% solids and mixed with 1.5 percent by weight of a morocco phosphate (34% P 2 O 5 ) ground to 65% passage through a DIN 40 sieve is adjusted to pH 10.8 with the addition of 7 g of lime per liter of sludge liquid and then heated to 150 ° C for 20 minutes in an enamelled pressure vessel at a pressure of atü.
