For use in therapy, it is mainly salts of the substances obtainable according to the invention that are used, since they generally have more favorable solubility properties than the basic bodies themselves. The salt formation can take place both on the basic groups present in the molecule and on any acidic groups present.

A solution of 0.05 mol of the corresponding 2,6-di (substituted amino) -5-nitro-pyrimidinecarboxylic acid (4) -esters in approx. 250 ecm ethyl acetate (or 250 ecm of a mixture of methanol-ethyl acetate, 1: 1) was mixed with 5-10 ecm of an aqueous Raney Niokel paste (Degussa) and hydrogen at room temperature and normal pressure shaken until the hydrogen uptake reached the theoretical value for the reduction of the nitro group (about 3 hours). After suctioning off the catalyst the solvent was almost completely evaporated (possibly in vacuo) and after adding a little water and digesting the amino ester is suctioned off, washed with a little water and dried. After determining the yield, it was used for purification (after possible reprecipitation from dilute hydrochloric acid using concentrated ammonia) preferably recrystallized from methanol, ethanol, water or mixtures of these solvents.
