Bei den unter dem Namen Grammophon bekannten und ähnlichen Apparaten zur Wiedergabe von Lauten und Tönen sind die Schallwellen in Form einer spiralförmig verlaufenden Nut in einer kreisförmigen Platte, der Schallplatte, angeordnet. Diese Schallplatte ruht auf dem Grammophonteller, welch letzterer durch einen Motor oder von Hand in Rotation versetzt wird. Die Wiedergabe von Lauten oder Tönen erfolgt dadurch, daß die Nadel der Schalldose in der spiralförmigen Nut bei Drehung der Schallplatte gleitet und dementsprechend die Membrane der Schalldose in Schwingungen versetzt.
