Description

KAISERLICHESIMPERIAL

PATENTAMT.PATENT OFFICE.

The apparatus consists of a compression pump A and a copper compression vessel B, which rests by means of pins in the bearings of the wooden frame C and, after unscrewing the tubes H and R , can be set in rotation by the crank K; at B there is also a manometer M, the double-bored tap P and the filling hole L. A gasometer D is connected to the compression vessel B through the tube R.

In addition to the outflow pipe E , the gasometer has a third pipe F, which is in connection with the atmospheric air, and through which, by screwing on a longer pipe at G, the air can be taken from the open air. On one of the guide rods of the gasometer there is a scale which shows the volume of the gasometer in 50, 100 or more equal parts as required.

Die Handhabung des Apparates ist folgende:The handling of the device is as follows:

After the easily oxidizable substances necessary for the preparation of nitrogen have been put into the compression vessel B through the filling hole L, the same is connected to the pump A through the pressure pipe H and air is pumped in up to a certain pressure, preferably four atmospheres. The pressure tube H is then unscrewed, the cock of the manometer is closed and the apparatus is set in rotation using the crank K. In this way the compressed air is brought into intimate contact with the easily oxidizable substances, and the oxygen is quickly taken up under the high pressure. If the rotation has continued for a while, the compression vessel is returned to its original position, the manometer cock P is opened and the pressure reduction brought about by the loss of oxygen is read off. When the pointer has gone back so far that it is on the mark which shows the complete de-oxygenation of the air at an original pressure of four atmospheres, the operation is ended.

For filling the gas holder is screwed to the connecting pipe R and sets the two-hole tap P so that DAF connection with the pipe R is produced. Then you also open the cock O and let in nitrogen as required.

If one wants to produce oxygen-poor air for inhalations, the gasometer is filled with a certain volume of air through the tube F , and a certain percentage of nitrogen is supplied to it through the tap O. The tube E is used to empty the gasometer BEZW. for inhalation.

An apparatus for the preparation of nitrogen from the atmosphere, which is new in its composition Air with the use of easily oxidizable substances at a pressure of several atmospheres with the following Rotation of the apparatus to ensure intimate contact of the air with the easily oxidizable Bringing out substances in as short a time as possible, both as a result of this and as a result of the high pressure Time to achieve pure nitrogen, which is fed into a gasometer and there, mixed with it atmospheric air, for inhalation or purely for other purposes.
